A delightful establishment with great character and warm, welcoming staff who know their stuff. The small details are not forgotten, the showers, bedding, towels and treats are all top quality and the food both dinner and breakfast were out of this world.I was torn between a rack of lamb, a venison steak or a duck breast from the specials and the water expertly guided me to the lamb, it was perfect! Then for dessert we shared a banoffee pie and I've never had a better one.Delightful and delicious all round 👏

Roses are red, violets are blue, the food and service is amazing, you should eat here too.

The room was small and a bit funky, I measured it to be a 155 ft.². (Not 246’per booking) The ceiling, about 7.5’tall, it was fairly modernly renovated, but a bit quirky. ( Strange fittings, furniture and lamps , an exposed stone block wall, bright turquoise room color And mirrors) The food in the restaurant was good, nothing special, A bit different from the normal pub fare, Though the service, by the owners was very warm. I thought the pictures in the booking app made it look more elegant and Glamorous than it was.

Had evening meal in the bistro . Great food , great menu choice and lovely atmosphere. Quality and service excellent. Quality food cooked by the owner.

Lovely old world place to have a meal. Food was excellent and staff very helpful.

Accommodation and food service provided simply top notch friendly and professional. Stayed in the Rococo room and my mate stayed in the Indian room. The attention to detail is very high.Ate scollops and king prawn starter. Main was a very difficult choice from and excellent specials board so had chateaubriand cooked perfectly. Dessert was a delish toffee and pecan roulade. All washed down with 3 bottles of Romanian pinot and a bottle of red.Breakfast was the best continental I ever had. Will certainly be staying again.

My wife and I just had the most amazing food and service here much better than we have experience for a long time. I highly recommend a visit. If it wasn't for the fact we live so far away we would definitely be regular customers. Great place to eat at reasonable prices. Thanks

Stayed for 2 nights in the “Retro” room. Whilst it was comfortable enough, it was difficult to sleep: there’s some kind of generator which kicks in every 10 minutes or so, then whirrs for a couple of minutes before shuddering & switching off; this goes on ALL night and is loud enough to make it torturous trying to get to sleep. The quality of the continental breakfast is good and we appreciated the Covid-safe way it’s presented, but I feel that £25 (for 2 people) is expensive for what you get.We had dinner in the Bistro on our first evening and really enjoyed it: good food, friendly service and excellent Romanian Pinot Noir. (4-stars for dinner.)

What a wonderful little restaurant, with such caring and attentive management. The food was faultless, and the service first class. Don't hesitate in n popping in, wether you just fancy a light snack for lunch, or a good blowout for dinner. Lovely.

We have eaten in the bistro 4 times during our 3 night stay in Painswick. It was a great experience. The bistro offers great food and drinks, local produce and fantastic service. Chef Marin, his wife Catalina and Alex who are front of house are a great team who really care about their customers. We felt really well looked after that’s why we kept on coming back everyday throughout our stay in the Cotswolds. Can’t recommend St Michael’s restaurant enough.
