In the area for a family holiday and came here for the "last night meal". Chose La Piccolo as it looked decent as we passed by when visiting Monmouth. We were not disappointed! We were three generations from grand kids to grandparents and the menu catered for all - good kids menu as well.Excellent food, lovely friendly service and a great ambience in the restaurant.A great finale for our week away.

It was a girls get together and it had snowed (a little during the day!)so wasn't great sitting outside . Heaters definitely helped somewhat!! Only had a main course which was nice ... not overly exciting. All the staff were lovely ....and it was a comfortable place for a catch-up x

The food was amazing and the cocktails were perfect but just a little bit pricey 6 cocktails £50.00 will definitely go again as the atmosphere is very relaxed somewhere where you can chat and socialize the staff were very accommodating thank you for a lovely experience

Went for Valentines dinner. The service and food was amazing. The mood was enhanced with the decorations and even the menu was given a love-theme makeover.

Despite living here most of my life I'd never been to La Piccola. What a waste of my life! The food was truly excellent. We had whitebait and the octopus with chorizo to start. Both were good but the octopus was an outstanding piece of cookery. For main, the chicken with tallegio cheese was rich and delicious and the grilled sea bream was perfectly cooked. A great meal with excellent service. The only dent in the evening was that the red wine we tried by the glass (the montepulciano and the malbec) were nothing to write home about - go for a bottle of something lovely instead. But that is a very minor criticism for what was an excellent meal. We'll be back.

Went in very under-dressed not expecting it to be filled with people looking a lot more formal but anyway, I ordered the roast duck and wow very generous serving and tasted great. Waiter could tell when they were needed too. Overall great food and experienceWould definitely recommend

Lovely food one of the best Italian I've been. They keep asking do I need more drinks. There's no much distance between tables, even-though they have more space. I belive they should take more care during the pandemic. That’s the only negtive thing.

We went here because friends recommended it, we weren't disappointed. The 'caffè' was one of the best I've had in the UK.

Rooftop terrace was perfect for us with a 3yr old. Pizza was done to perfection and the seafood risotto was good, although the pizza is hands down very good. Pictured is pizza with buffalo mozzarella.

I really want to be positive after reading all the 5* reviews but I can't sadly.Yes the staff were friendly but the food was only mediocre and small portions, the Ravioli sounded nice but I wanted a smaller portion with no chicken on the top, I was charged a whopping £14:95. My pizza looked lovely but at £11:95 I would have liked a few more bits of mushrooms, sweetcorn, onions and it was really salty - maybe thats my fault for forgetting to say no olives .... no matter how many times I try I just don't get on with whole or half olives. My husband had whitebait and again said it was nothing special, his risotto was very hot with a big puddle in the bottom, makes us think of chef Mike, lacked seasoning and appeared to have the wrong rice, we did point that out and got our drinks free.... that brings me to something else, I wanted a San pellegrino but they had none .... that's like a fish and chips shop running out of vinegar. We asked the server if they had none-alcoholic bier, she didn't know, saying I don't think so no, so we just got water and pressè, whilst waiting for our drinks we noticed Beck's Blue on the drinks list ... none-alcoholic bier I believe. Only 2 server's with all the customers up on the roof terrace left the front bar and down stairs unattended, not best practice really, we waited 10 minutes ish before anyone noticed we were waiting. Anyway all of these minor issues mount up to only 2 stars. On the subject of the risotto, in my husband's opinion, given that he is an ex Hotel Manager of 4* Hotels, and has eaten probably the best risotto at the Cipriani Hotel in Venice. He said that this was the oddest Arborio rice he'd even seen or tasted, and certainly did not have the creaminess of a properly made risotto.Overall verdict: Could do better and definitely room for improvement. On a final, more positive note, we thought the ambience was good and the roof terrace was really lovely, but needed better warning of the high step on the roof terrace. 3 people almost fell while we were there.
