First thing is that the google pin isn't quite in the right place, which is important as this charming cafe is tucked down an alleyway and sits in a delightful courtyard, a perfect hideaway from the bustle of the High Street. I've loved the occasions I've been in, I confess mainly for coffee and cake, but I have to keep returning to check the quality remains high! :)

A nice cafƩ tucked away off the High Street with indoor and outdoor seating and offering a variety of decent meals and drinks. It's also licensed. Sometimes you have to wait a while for your order when it's very busy so not the place to go if you're in a rush! But otherwise it's very good.

This CAFE Is a āFANTASTIC FINDā I used this cafe this weekend with my wife and daughter. (As the weather was excellent)My daughter is 9months pregnant. The staff were very receptive to her exacting requirements! The owners were very helpful. In fact lovely. I will return with our grand child very soon. Food lovely, atmosphere fantastic and staff very attentive. I donāt know who you are BUT keep up your great work?

Off the beaten track down an alley. Great breakfast and excellent coffee. Some issues with timing (toast and eggs came much later than the rest, but worth the wait and free additional coffee came as compensation). Delicious sourdough toast with butter. Clean toilets and great friendly service. Recommended.

My husband and I went for breakfast today and it was hands down the best breakfast I've ever had. The poached eggs were perfection. The tea arrived in the most lovely vintage tea cups. We had our 2 dogs with us who were very welcome and were even given a little doggy biscuit which was a very nice gesture. We don't live local but if we are ever in the area again (likely as we are having a great time) then we will visit Mill Cafe again. Thank you so much for being so accommodating and providing such delicious food!!!

We used to frequent this place daily when we lived in Stroud and it used to be delightful. The new owners haven't done the place any favors and it has went down hill since our last visit. It was busy on Saturday with Stroud having its regular Farmers market. The service was awful with 4-5 youngsters (school kids ) with no experience taking customer orders and serving and who had no clue on how to deliver good customer service. There is no table service and we had to pay when placing our order at the counter, so I'm guessing that the kids serving don't get much in the way of gratuities (not that tips would have been forthcoming from us on this occasion). So very poor service , long wait time for food with a limited and expensive menu . I can NOT recommend this place. Stroud has so many alternative places that offer better customer service , better menu choice and better value for money.

Do you make up it up as you go along to suit your own narrative in response to my husband's complaint below about your appalling service? Let me be clear here just to put your straight. We did not change our rating - we gave you 1 star and we would have given you zero if we had been able to. At no point did you or any of your staff tell us that our order would be delayed - that comment has been made up by you to try and make your service better than it was. In fact the girl who took our order seemed to have problems with the order buttons on the till ( was she new ?) and my husband had I had to repeat our order 3 times to her. And anyway, how would you know what was said ? I saw you sitting on a chair by the toilet door reading your news paper when my husband placed our order. As already mentioned, I saw other customers come in after us , place their order , get served and leave before we had been served . Having to wait 45 mins to be served an omelette + veggie b/fast is poor service ...and our food was only lukewarm so it had possibly been sat somewhere ?. The bottom line is that you didn't like the justifiable criticism for your very poor service and you only showed up when my husband requested a refund. If he was rude then it was only in response to you starting to pull dirty looks. Instead, you should have been a bit more humble and apologizing for your poor service...oh and p.s , I left some food of my veggie b/fast ...it was cold....and p.p.s I have just looked at your reviews on Trip Advisor and it seems that we are not the only ones with a similar opinion /experience. You clearly need to get your customer service act together.

Food was OK ...but the service today Sat 18th Sept was appalling. This place has went downhill since our last visit with previous owners. We would have left the place if we hadn't been asked to pay for our order before we had been served our food. The follically challenged owner, who for most of the time was seen sat by the toilet door reading his news paper, whilst 5 students did all the running about but they didn't seem to be efficient or organized. The owner seemed to think that a 45 min wait to be served our b/fast order was acceptable whilst other customers came in, were served and had left the place. When we asked the waitress where our order was she went away and after 5 mins when she never came back to inform us, I walked up to the counter to request our money back.Magically our food then appeared !!! ...and the follically challenged owner gave me the dirtiest of looks for complaining - no apology for our long wait, the condiments, salt, pepper, sauce etc. had to be requested. In summary the owner had a terrible attitude and he needs customer service training ( but they say that you can't teach an old dog new tricks) ... yep we definitely won't be back ...the choice of eateries just 5 minutes away in the Merry Walks centre offer much better service , value and variety.

Friendly service ( food arrived before we even managed to issue the first āwhat takes them so longā which is a success as we were really starving š¤Ŗ) , great food ( okay, it was actually amazing to be fair! We were both surprised with quality and quantity - absolutely worth the price ), quite silent ( which is a plus as I donāt like shouting battles with my wife ) and we will definitely come back ( if or when weāll be in the area! )

The best vegan breakfast Iāve ever had! This is such a cute cafe, tucked away off the high street. Very friendly staff and they have an amazing vegan selection of coffee and cakes too!
