A disappointing experience for an evening meal. The owner and the wait staff were too concerned with their own self-importance than actually serving the customer's needs. Food was mediocre at best. The fish and chips were of a similar quality to an Asda cafe, although smaller in portion. Limp thin batter, small size fish and slightly undercooked chips.Poor value for money, incredibly poor service, a very disappointing experience.

Really terrible experience here staying as guests. No hot water, no check in process, no hot breakfast available, had to move to an inferior cheaper room and were not reimbursed. Hotel promised to refund due to our poor experience but then refused when we accepted the offer. Hugely disappointing and definitely avoid.

I had a lovely Sunday roast dinner here, and a lovely waitress called Sinead. She was so attentive and made sure we had everything we needed, thank you! We would definitely come here again if she was serving us.

Table for 9 booked for Sunday Roast. The staff could not have been more welcoming to us at this most charming of pubs in a lovely village, the service was super friendly and super efficient and with a smile; it is so nice to feel welcomed. BEST roast dinner we have had, both the pork belly and beef are absolutely beautiful. If you are considering this lovely pub for Sunday roast don't hesitate, you will not be disappointed.

FRI 25/03/2022 - Waiter smelt of cannabis and lacked enthusiasm which was not a good start. I ordered the burger with added bacon and my partner the fish&chips with a garlic mayo sauce. We also ordered an alcoholic drink each. Bacon was not in the burger and the garlic mayo sauce was nowhere to be seen. Half the chunky chips were hard like they were under cooked. At the time of ordering and arrival of food we were the only ones present, so hardly an error due to being run off their feet. Food was okay, it’s a shame the finer details were missed. When awaiting our bill an elderly couple entered the pub and enquired about the half price fish&chips and Prosecco. The waiter confirmed this. We were not aware of this special. When our bill came the fish&chips were not half price which left us confused. All in all a mediocre experience for £42.90 (a price which did not reflect the level of service) which is such a shame after reading the reviews and being recommended to visit by friends and family.

Arrived after a long, wet journey, and the cosy atmosphere made one feel at ease immediately. A real character old building and friendly staff. The evening meal was very good indeed - would have satisfied anyone, and the room was both comfortable and spotlessly clean.

Had high hopes for the Sunday roast, but alas, it was very bog standard and not worth the price.Very nice setting with friendly service, but the shop bought Bloody Mary mix that came with a sachet of pepper was a sign of things to come.Decent Yorkshire pud and tender Pork were the only highlights here. Beef looked incredibly overcooked, and veg was not plentiful.Won't be returning.

Excellent food now being served in the front bar area of the pub. It seemed to be full on the Tuesday evening on which we visited. It was such a pity that the pretty restaurant area with the high ceiling and minstrels' gallery was boarded over leaving a square uninteresting box.

Such a fantastic overnight stay!Lovely staff and the room was immaculate. We visited with our 2 little dogs and was made to feel very welcome. Had dinner & breakfast at the Rose and Crown and would highly recommend - food was 1st Class along with the lovely atmosphereThank you to all :)

Phoned on the off chance of a table for lunch the day before Christmas Eve after a morning of food shopping. The landlord couldn't have been more friendly especially as we hadn't booked and there were two adults and a one year old. Arrived and got a lovely table by the wood burner.Service was excellent and the food was great. Will definitely be heading back.
