The Beacon Inn in Stroud

Our family of 5 stayed and ate here the staff was so welcoming and the locals was kind friendly and welcoming. We met George the chicken so cute and nell the golden retriever a local to the beacon. The owners made us feel so welcome, chatted to us at breakfast. The food was absolutely super. Look forward to going back. The rooms had everything we needed.

This was for a one night stay in May. On arrival we had to wait to register, but once we had been seen the check in was done with a warm and friendly smile.The room was for a family so not really ideal for just the two of us, as there was a lot of beds. The room was fine but needed a bit of attention with bulbs not working.Generally the room was clean but again attention around the bath (which was very large) and panel needed. One problem seemed to be lack of plug sockets but can appreciate it is an old building.Breakfast was plentiful with a good choice and again the staff were helpful and friendly.

Had a meal here this evening. The food was ok, the way I will describe it is, you get what you pay for. So it's reasonably priced for what you get. The pate starter should really have came with a nice bread or sourdough maybe but was just thin white bagged bread. The main of lamb shank was quite nice and the gravy was very good. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the waitress knew all the beers on tap that was quite a few so that was impressive.

Lamb shank was delicious, but the mash needed more mashing and a second veg would have been better.

Lovely place for peace and quiet. Staff very friendly and room was amazing. Will be back.

Booked for a Sunday lunch which was really nice but unfortunately my brother collapsed on the floor. The staff were really understanding and would like to thank the manager who was so helpful and looked after us. Didn't finish lunch so hopefully rebook again.

Very nice pub and friendly staff. Stay overnight few times and so comfortable and relax. Food is second to none.

We went for a Sunday roast and it was probably one of the best I've ever had. The staff were very helpful, served us with drinks at the bar as our table was being laid up then the showed to the table and within 15 minutes of being seated or diner was served. A good idea here is they serve your veggies separately and you get your own pot of gravy. It went down really well.
