The Lord John in Stroud

As bit rough. It's a shame because our fish and chips were lovely, but the no smoking area outside is just overrun with smokers, making it extremely unpleasant, particularly when eating. The staff do no not enforce the smoking zone and just ignored it.It could be so much better.

Visited today with my wife and Dad. All had cod & chips with mushy peas. Delicious, as usual, but the fish portions were smaller than those we're used to in other 'Spoons. Has Wetherspoons reduced its portion size on the cod generally - or was this a 'one off'?

Always look for a wetherspoons but very disappointed with this one. Had to ask them to clear the table from previous diners. They took the pots but left all sauce sachets, magazines and a dirty table. When we asked if they could clean the table, we were asked if just cleaning our bit was OK. Had a drink and left. Nothing like their normal standard.

It's a Wetherspoons, so always going to give good value for money. Bar staff were friendly, and service was pleasant and even though it was pretty busy, it didn't feel too noisy

The Lord John nice wetherspoons Pub Just popped in for a hot drink, Hot chocolate, Tea or Coffee just over £1 and refillable as many times as you wish. Bargain 🤑🤑🤑

Food and service was excellent as always the chicken was something else. So very tasty

It'd a shame as even though it's cheap, the food the last couple of times here had been disappointing. Weatherspoon pubs are popular for great value deals on food and drinks, but its seems that the Lord John sites quality has dipped below what we expect and get in others, it just doesn't compare to other weatherspoons anymore I'm afraid, sorry.

Appalling meal here today. Never had such a bad meal at any Wetherspoons before.Ordered steak & jacket potato. When it arrived there it was, just steak/potato. Nothing else, not even half a tomato, a mushroom, a few peas. My friend ordered the Southern fried chicken strips & chips, usually comes with small side salad, coleslaw and a dip for the chicken. This time nothing.. No ketchup either and no mustard or horseradish or black pepper for the steak. The meals looked bleakWe asked for all the missing items but were just told no Really awful meal. Won't be going to this Wetherspoons again.

Long narrow pub with the usual Spoons fare. Enjoyed our visit; surprise meeting someone from our home town we hadn't seen for years. Best get the train to this pub as limited parking close by.

It turns out that Wetherspoons is not a universally uniform experience. Usually my venue of choice for good value good food. On this occasion I was wrong. No butter on my toast (scrambled egg) made the meal dry and relatively unpleasant to eat. I voted against complaining.
