Where is Goddard Arms?

🏠 1 High St, Swindon SN1 3EG

"The Goddard Arms is a friendly hotel located right in the heart of Swindon's Old Town. The Old Town itself, which includes our building and the surrounding areas are full of rich history. The Goddard Arms is an old converted Coaching Inn where horse-drawn coaches used to change horses en route to their next destination. We are also right next door to the beautiful 50 acre Lawns Park which was once the estate of the Goddard family and where the name of our hotel comes from. There are easy links to the M4 and M5 plus the hotel is just a 15 minute walk from the closest bus station and 30 minutes from Swindon train station. We have 17 rooms which all come equipped with a hairdryer, TV, shampoo and tea/coffee facilities."

Attend a Wake here. The staff were friendly and very helpful. We had over estimated number of attendees so there was plenty of the Excellent buffet left over. Staff provided packaging so that we could take "doggy" bags home. The buffet contained both hot and cold food and hot drinks. Thank you so much.

The Goddard Arms is quite a charming and quaint place with a good vibe and character to it. Came here today with my partner for the English breakfast and it was cooked to perfection served very quickly and by polite and courteous staff.... very much a recommended place and one that we will return to frequently

Pub is gorgeous. Atmosphere wasn’t too bad either.Me and my boyfriend went to get some dinner after work, we fancied pub grub and he had been there previously we decided to go here.Upon sitting a member of staff came over pretty abruptly and asked for ID, to start I was confused as we weren’t having any alcohol. Maybe on my part I need to start carrying ID when I go for food alone which is bizarre to me.The staff member said because we paid already we could stay but would have to leave straight after, otherwise if we hadn’t of given them our money we would of had to leave there and then. It made me feel quite belittled to be quite honest and checking around no one seemed to get ID’d but myself, it’s safe to say I definitely won’t be going back to get treat like that.Seems to be confusing with the premise licence/protocol as the last time my partner went there nobody ID’d him or his friends and it was way later than 7pm which is the time we went. Seems like they pick and choose. Shame as I’m sure it would of been lovely🤷🏼‍♀️

Really busy Saturday lunchtime but the staff operated like a well oiled machine. Friendly, helpful and courteous. The food was good quality pub grub, the beer was fresh, and we didn't need anything more

Staff work fast on the bar with cheerful faces and chat . Wonderful selection of gin . Nice big garden too. Friendly atmosphere. We didn't eat there but the food I saw looked good . A definite asset to old town .

Had the best fish and chips I have eaten at a pub here! This place hae a good menu at a very good price. Friendly staff too, and the pub has a nice atmosphere. Drinks are well served too. Recommended!

Food was fine for the price, nice and hot, and promptly served. No staff wearing masks and one waiter leaned over me and my food. Also the card machines were not clean. I wanted to pay for my drink contactless, but it asks if you want to leave a tip so you have to touch it. Regular cleaning on the touch screen is needed.

I asked what the seasonal vegetables were and what I got was not what they said. The food was all bought in not prepared on site. They treated my friend better. I felt I was discriminated against really, I rarely go out, working hard throughout, I could have made a much better quality meal at home for a much better price, they prefer alcoholics to tired workers. I thought we'd go out to support the industry. I won't repeat this.

Really nice pub plenty of beers/wines spirits to choose from at a great price. Fantastic place to catch up with friends or family with a nice atmosphere. The garden is really nice in the summer time but they do have a couple heat lights under the shelter for colder days.
