Ample parking and when walking from the car park you will likely be met with the smell of woodsmoke as the outdoor oven is lit. We love this place! Wonderful staff. The food is excellent, menu varies each time depending on what is in and seasonal, and you can visit the HB shop afterwards to buy some fudge or sausages. Highly recommended in all seasons. Particularly pleasant in summer outside on the old tables and chairs.

Had the best time here; super welcoming staff and gorgeous accommodation which was actually an upgrade from what we hadbooked. Our evening meal in the pub was superb, along with our breakfast the following morning. Would highly recommend, and will definitely be returning ourselves in the future.

The best pub in Swindon area. Great atmosphere and delicious food. The surrounding area is also very beautiful so well worth planning a pub walk

Sorry , only 3 stars. We've been here loads of times before , but... I personally feel it it out pricing itself. Service and food excellent as ever. But 3 mains with a drink each was £80.. going to put a few people off. Sorry Helen...

Had the most amazing time at Helen Browning's Royal Oak! From the large bedroom and fantastic bathtub, to the extremely friendly team and the amazing food, we cannot wait to get back for another getaway! We had a wonderful time out on great local walks and found visiting the pigs and calves such a great experience!

Lovely atmosphere and great service. We visited as part of an organised event which was great. Starters were huge and delicious. The only issue we experienced was that three of us had the 'ham egg and chips' ... chips were amazing but all three agreed the ham was a bit on the chewie side which was a shame

I have a soft spot for the Royal Oak. I used to stay there many years ago on my regular walking trips in the area and it's nice to see that the pub has lost none of its atmosphere, despite its huge success and exponential growth as a business. It still has welcoming real fires and is still dog-friendly. Staying overnight is now sadly way out of my league and eating there also is very expensive. I had a side order of chips for £4, but if the main courses had included some options at £12 or (preferably) under, instead of averaging £18 - £20, I'd gladly have spent a bit more for something comforting, substantial and warm at the end of a long walk. Great to see the pub doing so well though, and I certainly intend to continue to visit for many years to come.
