Attended for an 18th birthday. The food, drink and ambiance was brilliant.

Had a 50th Birthday Party here last night. The staff couldn't do enough for us, nothing was too much trouble. Great venue and amenities Would highly recommend it if you're looking for a venue to hire.

First time visitor. A great historic exterior, with a modern decor and furnishing inside up complement it. The location is central to both train & bus stations, plus town centre. Food and drinks are reasonable priced. Although some of the food on Christmas menu wasn't as good as expected. Very friendly staff, both welcoming and willing to assist with any special requests.

They list this as a pub, and there's certainly one there, but this was one of nicest lodgings we've ever stayed. The room was spacious and all of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They also fed us a fine breakfast each morning. We stayed here because we were visiting Avebury Stone Circle, just a few minutes away by bus. The Great Western was a great location, across the street from the trains and just a couple blocks from the bus station.

Nice hotel, full of architecture and history, some of the lush fittings have been lost to modern styles, but all clean and tidy.Bedroom's are of a decent size with modern en-suit's. All though a few design issues, no socket for electric toothbrush or shaver, mirror and hairdryer put in a stupid position as well the toilet paper holder. Plus lack of shelves in the bathroom.Bar area and reception are very clean and modern. Staff are very helpful and polite.Car parking is charged and isn't controlled by the hotel. Very handy for the train station and an easy walk into the shopping area.

Nice place friendly staff. Unfortunately parking is £15 for 24 hrs, the rooms 1-5 back on to the outdoor area so it can be quite noisy. Arrived on the Friday(after a long journey) and they state they serve food from 5-8 but instead they had 2 options available which, were already cooked on the hot plate for anyone to help themselves, didn't bother even looking at what they had so drove to harvester. The room was nice but the shower head was mouldy and the sealant was coming away from the wall at the base of the shower. On a good note it's in a good location right opposite the station.
