Unfortunately, the food did not meet the expectations last night. Been here quite a few times since it changed hands and seen some very good improvements including the menu. The starters were very nice but that’s where it ended, I had the steak pie and tbh, it was so far overcooked I could not even break the meat up it was so hard, the bottom of the crust was as hard as the dinner plate, the item was removed from the bill, thank you. My sons burger was so dry, he left most of it and the chicken burger that was also ordered was also dry.Needless to say some of the plates went back with food onVery disappointed this time round and will give it a miss for a while

3pm on a weekday for a guick pit stop. Very quiet with only a couple of regulars. Not a good time of the day to review a pub.

Hadn't been here for years but met a friend there and had a meal. We got a lovely friendly welcome, the pub had a very chilled relaxing vibe, nice friendly staff and the food was delicious. Will be going back when it's warmer as the back garden area looks very inviting.

Brill friendly service and delicious pub menu

This pub has improved so much since last year, they have new management which has made a massive difference and everyone at the pub seemed to agree. The whole menu has changed and the food is excellent. The team and management seem to really care and the pub is very welcoming and friendly. (Dog friendly too). Looking forward to visiting in summer as the beer garden looks lovely!Show less

We stopped in on the off-chance to see if they had a table for 2 available for Sunday lunch. Luckily they did - I chose chicken & my partner chose the beef (and there was also a vegetarian option). Both meals came relatively quickly and were nicely presented with a dish of vegetables to dip into on the side.My chicken was served as a breast with a small bone (very easily removed) and the beef was served in slices. Both meals came with roasties, a Yorkshire pud, red cabbage, sliced parsnip "crisps" and a parsnip puree (and gravy of course). I'm not a big fan of parsnip, but I loved both.We then chose sticky toffee pudding and cheesecake for afters, both with ice cream (but could have had custard or cream instead) snd again both were well presented and delicious.I'm not sure how much the bill came to as my partner paid for this one. I'd thoroughly recommend - they were busy, so I would probably say either don't leave it too late or book a table beforehand.
