I was only in Taunton for a few hours and Coffee #1 was the perfect place to kill time before my train. Friendly but with enough space to sit comfortably at the back by myself and feel happy. Great vegan options: I had a wrap, banana cake and smoothie. Would really recommend, I’d be a regular if I lived here.

Very disappointed. We love coffee one and went to the Taunton one in Saturday. It was dreadful, my partner wanted a tea but they didn't have any teapots so he was given a mug of tea. I asked for a large latte, sadly the girl behind the counter served it in a teacup 🤬 when I questioned it she seemed totally flummoxed and after listening to her gabbling for a few seconds we walked away and sat down. Generally it was quite grubby with lots of tables that hadn't been cleared, probably why there were no teapots!!!!! Very disappointed and won't visit again. Costa here we come.

I can only echo the negative views of others who have frequented the Taunton branch of Coffee #1.In short, the staff are rude, the service is slow and the place isn't clean. It wasn't always like this. Very disappointing to see what was a nice coffee shop slide right down.

Well what can I say they never fail to disappoint. Yet again they let us down. Simple order a skinny mocha, a mocha and a panini. Massive order - not. So we waited for the panini, the timer went off on both machines made it sound like the place was on fire and we waited and waited finally the guy with a beard and man bun took the food out. Now there was me thinking he would cut it put it in the bag and pass it to us. Oh no, much better to leave it and let it go cold. By the time we got it the outside of the panini was warm at best and the contents stone cold. I asked for money back, they said they had a water leak, I said they had a customer who has paid waiting for now food. The girl with fake American accent said she didn’t do it. She took the order but rather than deal with hot food that we had been waiting for she carried on serving cakes to people. Appalling service even worse attitude and simply the worst place to get a coffee in Taunton. No wonder the window in the door was smashed, I imagine it was another disgruntled customer who had wasted their money in there. PATHETIC.

Good coffee and a nice venue, but honestly the service is terrible. It's a popular cafe, but there's no drive in the staff and the queue is regularly to / out of the door for no reason other than very slow service and disinterested baristas. Wouldn't recommend it if it wasn't for the quality of the coffee.

So many bad reviews. Owner take note. This used to be my favourite coffee place. No more. Long queues, disinterested staff. Dirty surfaces and floors. Filthy toilets. One girl behind the counter spent more time arguing with another staff member than attending to the customers. My cup had dried food on the side...no apology..just a grunt. So many other great coffee establishments to choose from nearby with keen polite staff who greet you with a smile. Can't understand why the manager/owner is so complacent.

The place was to be alright but it has gone downhill. The service is extremely slow and the staff looks completely uninterested on what they are doing. There is always a long line just because it takes forever to do every drink. I understand they are no machines but come on, stop talking or complaining with your collage and get on with it. The bathroom is really dirty as well. I was to be a regular on the place but I am not going back. Plenty of independent coffees around which offer a much better experience.

Echoing what many have said below. This was the best coffee by far when I came to Taunton, but bad service, slow orders and disinterested staff mean I leave feeling infuriated with the demise of my favourite coffee shop. Twice I’ve come at 8am and no one has opened the shop - but there is a woman smoking outside 🤷🏼‍♀️ Hopefully they turn it around for 2022.

I'm not a coffee drinker so I've not been in here before despite living in Taunton a few years now. I really liked how it felt like part of Taunton and embraced local history in the decorating and I had a smoothie option I enjoyed so there's options for non-coffee drinkers too! The food and snacks are delicious too

Love Coffee#1 lovely super helpful staff. Really good coffee with oat milk and to die for cakes and toasted panini. Justifies why there was a queue out the door the entire time we were there and that's with a team of 4 working at top speed!
