Harvester in Taunton Deane

We visited today on a whim, not really knowing where to go for lunch and as we've not been here for a few years thought we'd give it a try.We were met at the door by Dylan who looked after us for the duration of our visit, a really nice guy, very polite and helpful.The restaurant was not busy, we had not booked but Dylan found us a nice table not far from the door which meant I didn't have to walk too far with my "wonky legs". We placed our order and Dylan came over and directed us to the salad bar, but neglected to say that the distribution of the salad bar was no longer the customer it was Dylan that would be dishing it out for us. I get that we have had the Covid pandemic but do we really need the hand-holding still?Anyhow, we'd just sat back down with our bowl of salad and bread roll and barely picked up the fork when the main meal arrived (rapid!!). If you follow my reviews, you're going to guess what is coming next - We both ordered the scampi and chips today and it was well presented, the peas were at the right temperature, the chips were crispy and fluffy and the scampi was very much wholetail and good quality too. We really enjoyed our main, so much so, that we went off-piste and ordered a dessert....I had the Sundae waffle and my wife went for the Eton Mess - I should add we are not pigs, but by the time we left they could have rolled us out, we were stuffed!! Not even room for a "Wafer-Thin mint"...I would certainly return given the quality of the service and the meal.

It's OK... not sure how they can mess up everytime with wrong orders, or slow service, or ... oh did you want your starters as starters?? Would be nice to have more napkins when eating ribs, rather than walking around the restaurant hunting them down.The food is good when you get it, but not exceptional.

Service was very slow. Left with dirty dishes on the table- but all the other tables around us had their starter dishes taken away. Food came out wrong twice . Loaded chips were a little disappointing and the corn on the cob was --mush. It's a shame as we have always loved the harvester. Sadly we won't be in a hurry to return.

We were seated as soon as we arrived . I'd forgotten it was half term and although the restaurant was nearly full the staff were excellent . Our order was taken soon after we had sat down and then we were taken to the salad bar where a member of staff filled our bowls with anything we would like Usually you help yourself but this was because of Covid . Our meals then followed just after we had finished our salad and our dessert after our plates had been cleared away . The food was excellent and all the staff pleasant and efficient . All in all an enjoyable lunch for my husband's birthday . I must add that when taking our order we were asked if we had any food allergies .. I have never been asked this anywhere else ( I don't have any ) but congratulations to the Griffin for recognising how important this is .

50% voucher and was kind of 50% less food too!Wanted the Ultimate Mixed Grill but was told they weren't doing them because of a lack of ribs.....you ain't kidding. Went for 83 Combo, which is half chicken, half ribs, well it should be half a rack of ribs....I had 4 and very tiny with hardly any meat on. Had this been full price I would have rejected this meal but as the rest of the family were hungry and their meals were at the table, I wasn't going to make them wait whilst another meal was done.Will I be frequenting a Harvester soon....... NO.I'll stick with the local carvery that offers a great meal at a great price. My son wanted a change and visit a Harvester, so pleased the family.Had the waitress not been friendly, it would have been 1 star. Sorry Taunton, but if you're lacking in some foods, simply take it off the menu completely but I guess this is what happens when they offer a 50% off voucher.

The Good:- Friendly service- Food ordered was very tasty!The Bad:- Half the menu was unavailable- Strange service for the salad bar (have to go up with a waiter. (why not give out disposable gloves?)

Had a delicious breakfast here. The service was good, we had toast brought to us, rather than helping ourselves, and our other food came soon after that. The food was lovely, great value too. Highly recommended!

Turned up without booking, got a table for 4, was well looked after by staff member Vicky, nothing was to much trouble for her. A valuable employee. Food was all good to. Will go there again.

Visited with my daughter on a Friday lunchtime.It was fairly busy. I was asked if I booked, which I hadn't.They found us a table swiftly and within 10 minutes we had drinks and a bowl of salad in front of us. I was glad of this as my daughter is a Diabetic and needed to eat.I told her to gobble it up as the food would be a while as they were busy. As soon as I said that, out came our starters, piping hot and delicious!The waiter checked in on us regularly to see if we needed anything else. We had chosen to eat from the 3 course lunch menu.Nachos and garlic mushrooms starters, chicken and beef burger mains and shared a waffle dessert.All of the food was excellent, hot mouthwatering and very good value for money. We'd had a free refill drink and 2 hot drinks all for under £35!Outstanding!Keep up the good work!The only reason for not giving 5 stars were that the toilets were disappointing.Not clean and badly designed.
