Skylark in Taunton Deane

It was busy and there were signs advertising for staff. We waited quite a while to be seated. But once we were the service was good and the food excellent, although my wife’s medium steak was not very pink it was very tasty. We waited about 40 minutes for our food, which was fine as we were just having a relaxing meal. But perhaps we could have been warned of the delay by staff rather than the less than happy people at the next table. We will definitely be back, good food at a reasonable price.

Won't be going again. Food was cold. Vinegar pots obviously not washed for long time as slime came out from both pots on the table. Assured they are refilled everyday, not washed out though. One star only because wouldn't allow review without it.

My partner & I have been very regular visitors to the skylark over the past 10 yrs. We have never had cause to complain, but unfortunately our last visit was far from satisfactory. We were shown to our table, we gave a drinks order. It arrived 15 minutes later. We ordered food, my wife had scampi & I ordered sirloin steak. When our meals arrived I was surprised to see I had 8 chips on my plate.I had half a mushroom .I had to go in search of a steak knife as it was impossible for me to cut my steak. I ordered another drink & had to ask twice for it to arrive. We were both disappointed with the overall service. We both had a dessert, paid our bill & left. I didn’t bother to complain as I think someone served my food & they considered it was appropriate. I have left this feedback for no reason other than to say I’ve had 10 years of excellent food from the Skylark, I know it was valentines night but the pub was Not that busy .

Good value meals 2for1 on main meals staff were really friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our meal however the chip were really over cooked. I was in to minds to mention it but I did and they brought out new chips which were piping hot so can't fault the service and response to our food niggle. We would try again due to thd staff being so good.

Awful 😖 buy 1 get 1 free at fish and chips £18.50 I don't think so. Service very slow even not busy . Food dismal to say the least. I ordered sirloin steak. A 6oz steak turned up and was so chewy I couldn't eat it. It was served with a few chips a quarter of tomato and half a mushroom which squealed fat into my mouth. Oh and 2 under cooked onion rings . Would we return 🤔Definitely definitely not stay clear

We had a bad experience here a couple years ago and we thought we would give them another go. Definitely will not return! Kept sat waiting for 30 minutes before someone came to take our drinks and food order to then be told it's a 45-60 minute wait. After other people had been sat down and had orders taken even though they were in after us. Absolutely appalling service yet again!!

Next to the travelodge, 241 on mains. Was there for work so dinning alone. The drinks menu has no cost for the gin, only the extra cost for a double. The menu says if dining in an odd no the odd one can have free dessert, not all desserts available and the main was very dry, I ordered hunters chicken so not a tricky meal. Had initially thought the deal was good, until the food came, they even tried to charge for dessert. Had better food and service in spoons.

Very nice meal and staff were helpful and pleasant. My only gripe is that I phoned in advance to book a table for 7 people but was told that 6 was the maximum so we had to come without our full group. Whilst there a table of 11 came in. Obviously not very impressed with this as we changed our New Years Eve family group.

The young staff were really good. We wanted to share a steak and they brought us a spare plate and cutlery without having to be asked or reminded. Very good service. We paid at the bar though and weren't asked to add a tip, which is a shame as they were both good

Called in for a bite to eat ,got the steak pie and realy enjoyed it,2 for 1 on all meals so was a real bargain,staff all on the ball and very freindly we will be calling again
