The Merry Monk in Taunton Deane

Carvery especially the pork was dry... also NO PLAY AREA ( boarded off) i also found it too be quite expensive Aswell... staff were very persistent with ordering drinks before our butt's had even touched down on the seat... the layout of the pub/restaurant was the best part with ample space...

My first roast dinner at a restaurant and honestly incredible! Loved my nut roast - best I have ever had! I need the recipe! Desserts looked incredible, I was too stuffed to try any but they looked amazing. Lovely staff and atmosphere. Considering the portion size (which you have control over!) It is so worth the money! Just wish there was brocolli!

Lovely atmosphere though the service could be a little friendlier. We had a carvery which was really nice apart from the roast potatoes. Overall, a nice place to eat and reasonably priced.

Atmosphere was calm and relaxed, carvery looked very appetising ( and it was really good as well) so did the food ordered from the menu. Deserts looked really delicious but very disappointed on the one tried( raspberry white chocolate brownie) as it was rock solid both the brownie itself as the chocolate on top ( which was very thick).But overall, nice place with good food.

First time here for the Sunday Carvery on recommendation from some friends. It was superb. Sadly no room left to sample a dessert! Next time for sure, as we will be back.

Awesome place for a Carvery on a Sunday. Diam mud cake was amazing. The main meal was filling and tasty. One question. Pigs in blankets, could they become part of the offering in the future?

Stopped to have dinner with a friend. Have been before for the carvery which was excellent. Had a chicken dish off the menu which was lovely, very big portion. It was quite busy for mid week. Would have scored 5 stars however the service could have been a bit better, friendly and welcoming but often left for long periods and waited ages to pay the bill.

We had a great time at the Monk, the food was very good and the staff were friendly. I had some friends down and they were all praise for the Monk. So get on down and enjoy this fantastic carvery. Big thanks to the team see you soon.

Ordered a cheese and ham baguette but took it home to eat. Baguette was put into the fridge the minute i got home and when i went to eat it i noticed the ham was off!! Called the restaurant and they said it was oxidisation (which it clearly is not when i didnt leave it out for more than 45 minutes whilst i was at the restaurant). All i was told by the supervisor on the phone was 'yeah im sorry about that'...... and after hearing that for what felt like the 10th time was clearly her trying to be patronising! Not sure on their hygiene rating but i am pretty sure it wont be 5* in the future! Definitely recommend if you fancy a case of food poisoning otherwise avoid at all costs!
