The Monkton Inn in Taunton Deane

Friendly welcome on arrival, we were seated quickly to our booked table. Staff were very polite and accommodating. The veggie burger was delicious!

The food was ok, but not something that I couldn't cook myself at home. Pub only opens for few hours, so we felt slightly rushed through the meal. Staff very very nice and caring. Lovely location

After our 21st birthday activity was cancelled, on the Sunday morning, this wonderful pub and staff fit in a booking for a table of 10 for lunch. The weather was awful and the 1h 30 mins drive meant we were 20 mins late but they welcomed us and treated us brilliantly throughout. The food was delicious; we had mostly roast dinners, which included a veggie option and a gluten free option (even a gf Yorkshire pud.) We took a birthday cake which ALL the staff came out with and sang to the birthday boy. The locals amongst the party have found a gem of a pub and we loved it enough to travel the distance to sample more of the extensive South African specials and more ales & ciders on tap. Went here for my first ever Christmas dinner out and am so glad I did. Not only was the food and service first class but the homely feel of the place was the icing on the cake. You felt like you were out and at home at the same time. Lovely people all around us to chat too. A big thank you to Val and Peter for giving up their Christmas day to make all of ours so special 🎅🤶🎄

This was pub was visited by my husband on a works night out.He enjoyed it that much we went for evening meal for his birthday. Prawn cocktail was lovely, fresh prawns , no bread and butter though 🤔Both had fillet steak which was the best steak we’ve had in a long time. We were both to full for pudding !We will be going back very soon with friends to try the exotic menu. Would highly recommend as the food was gorgeous and the staff were very polite and friendly. 😁

Had an excellent dinner with friends at the Monkton Inn. The steaks were excellent and I had the tasting menu and really enjoyed the South African fare. Service was top notch staff were very personable and it was nice to have a chat with the chef who is the owner. Highly recommend The Monkton Inn!

Nice tasters menu. Worth a visit. Warning...don't rely on the postcode as it's not very accurate.

We had a lovely walk along the canal and across the fields with our friends and dogs and stopped here for Sunday lunch. Cannot fault the service, staff or food, they were all top notch, we cannot wait to return to try the South Africa taster menu .🐾🐾🐾🐾

We stopped here on a Britstop Friday evening we arrived at about 8:45pm on our way to Cornwall from oxford and although the kitchen closed at 9pm they still managed to give us a lovely meal to fill us up and we had a couple of drinks in the bar afterwards with some of the locals in a really nice atmosphere. We will definitely be back…. Probably on the way home.

Food was great, small but good wine selection however the service is were the review lost a star.Might need more training as could not answer the questions about the food and we needed to ask to the member of staff to go to the kitchen and ask.Portions were nice and big would definitely go back a must try is the Trinchada!
