Coombe Cellars in Teignbridge

Love the interesting and varied menu. Couldn't decide what to eat as all sounded great. I had the belly pork and scallops. It was delicious except the scallops had a very over 'fishy' taste which I did not like. Apart from that all was good. Good atmosphere and lovely staff.

What a gem of a place. Food is best I've had at a good price (especially the trio of roasts). Staff are the friendliest and so welcoming. We are always made to feel like valued customers. Always our first choice for a special occasion.

Great food. Interesting alcoholic and non alcoholic cocktail options. A lovely view that we didn't get the full glory of as being January it was dark. It'll be a fabulous spot in stock summer.

Just spent a lovely evening at Coombe Cellars. Faultless service! The food was delicious, I had the sticky chicken and my husband had the crab linguine. We enjoyed it so much, we are going again tomorrow!

Stunning views, beautiful interior and very welcoming and professional front of the house.Food is HORRIBLE. We had scallops for starter which were greatly over salted and had weird funky texture. Scallops were served on a bed of pea purée which wasn’t blended enough and remained chunks of skin (see the picture)For the main I had pasta with prawn crab cream and tomato sauce. There was barely any cream though , no crab and tomatoes were slightly tired with tough skin and enormous amount. Seems like a chef tried to compensate the lack of other ingredients with tomatoes.My husband had seared sea bass which was good . It came with baby potatoes which were undercooked.That’s a shame as the menu is very smart. It looks like the Chef who made it left and people who are cooking now don’t know how to replicate it.My advice - don’t experiment and go for pub classics - fish and chips etc. It should be still tasty there.I’m very sorry to write this review and it’s nearly the only one bad reviews of mine. I hope it will be helpful though and if Coombe cellars reconsider menu/train chefs, it will be a marvellous place to dine in.

Had a wonderful lunch at the Coombe Cellars in such gorgeous surroundings. We had a starter of light fried squid and duck and port liver parfait. Main course was a dirty burger Pancho breaded chicken millanise with skinny chips and checked/red wine gravy.The staff were very attentive and professional with a lovely manor. Always making sure we were enjoying the meal and what beautiful surrounding to have a meal, looking over the estuary and to Teighmouth in the distance.We sat looking at the boats and the many trains travelling to Devon/Cornwall and we generally live the restaurant/pub and will definitely revisit in the foreseeable future.There is tons of parking due to being next door to the boat club and lots of outdoor seating. Beautiful views and if you have a dog there is a stunning massive grassed area over the stile/steps.It might be our new favourite place to go for a lovely meal...ticked all the boxes for us and super COVID safe.

Fantastic evening all round. Plenty of easy parking. Disabled access. Wonderful location that has picture windows at what feels like water level (tide was in when I visited). Well stocked bar with courteous and pleasant barstaff. Waitress was superb, just enough light chat to be engaging but not too much (AND at no time did she say "enjoy" as she was walking away) and was smart and polite.Food was excellent. We (party of 6) we're awful on that every starter looked so nice, we were swapping tiny bites of each one. Wonderful. Great presentation that enhanced the platter rather than the presentation being the sole reason for its existence. Anyway, on to the main courses. Again, all delivered in good time by a polite young fellow, who checked everything was in order before leaving us and offered us a carafe of water without being asked.Six superb mains. Fish, chicken, cheese, duck and a burger. All excellently cooked. My fish (huge piece) was crisp from end to end and from top to bottom. No soggy bottom. Wonderfully cooked.So good was the starter and main course, none of us could manage a dessert. We'll save that for another time (as there surely will be one). A superb evening, in a lovely environment, not crowded, no pressure with great food and good service. It's what I am told people work all week for!Totally recommended

Beautiful views, setting and restaurant.For my food I would have given 3 stars but overall I’ve given it 4.I ordered the chicken, Brie and bacon pie. It’s said it came with tender stem broccoli but it was just normal broccoli half of which was yellow. Rich gravy, I wouldn’t call it rich as it was rather watery. I also didn’t taste and couldn’t see any Brie in my pie which was a lot of crust and not even to the amount of filling.My husbands nourish bowl was exactly what it said on the tin. Packed of veggies and perfect fries on the side.

Went here for a couple of ‘Freedom Day’ drinks and some food - having had some average experiences in previous years, this visit was great. Food was tasty - recommend the fish and chips and/or the vegan burger which were both yummy. Place really comes to life on a sunny eve where it’s a great spot to catch the sunset with a beer. Also get great views up the river towards shaldon/teignmouth. Hearne field, situated before you come into the restaurant by road, is also a pretty spot worth visiting before or after visiting Coombs Cellars. Service is good once you engage with them (they weren’t very proactive initially and we had to ask them to clear/wipe our table, but then we were more chatty and engaged). Lots of parking too which is a benefit.
