Hungry Horse- The Sloop in Teignbridge

Fantastic food, cheap but tasty. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Would highly recommend this place.

Came here as i had fond memories of hungry horse as kid. Now if you're looking for somewhere quick and cheap then its alright. However if (like me) you care about quality over quantity then I'd suggest somewhere else, this is how we left our plates (photo below). Cheap ingredients (Sainsbury's basic) and food not cooked to any sort of great standard (I think I could do the same after a full day's work).Staff seemed under trained and had no real interest in their jobs (they did what they had to do and thats all).It filled a hole in the belly and that's it. Don't think I'll be coming here again.

Requested allergy information when ordering (nut allergy). Rude staff member behind bar (supervisor?) told me she wouldn't provide it, and that I'd have to download their app to get the information. I didn't want to download their app, nor should she presume I have a charged phone on me.Not sure the legality of not providing allergy information on-premises, but her condescension alone was unnecessary and off-putting.Two people in the group ordered the same meal. The one who ordered first waited 20+ minutes longer for their meal than the one who ordered last.Finally somebody else in the group received the wrong order, but mistakes happen. Said person requested a refund, had the cash rudely thrust back at them.Given it was an extended family gathering we'd hoped at least for some neutral customer service.

Unplanned visit, early evening. Impressed with the place, adult only area, clean and fresh. The best pub in this chain by far. Intend to visit again. Good for family outings aswell. Good value food and drink.

Food has improved a lot, we went here a couple of years ago and it was so bad I swore I'd never go back but went in there recently as nowhere else had any reservations and we were so impressed! The menu is smaller but all the food we saw coming out looked really good, we didn't have to wait too long and the food was delicious! I will definitely be going back again soon!

We chose the Sloop as whilst we haven’t been here for some time we remembered it had a children’s soft-play area as we had a pair of 3yr-olds with us. However unfortunately it looks like this no longer exists.It’s nicely done out, and at the time of our visit full of other families enjoying cheap food.I had chicken skewers - now I’ve had these before in another hungry horse pub and had the same complaint there. Thought I’d try them again to compare but unfortunately the chicken is not great at all - the best way I can describe it is “mushy”, like it’s been pulled from a freezer and heated up too quickly.The meal was cheap though, plus I used my AA Discount for a further 20% off making it good value really if you’re not too picky with your food.The gents toilets were generally clean and tidy but the door to the cubical is fitted the wrong way and as such is damaged because you can’t enter it properly because the door won’t open fully. Needs sorting out.

With a great range of food to choose from there is something for everyone at the sloop (even me with my fussy kids!!). Tastes great and the prices are reasonable too, definitely worth a visit.

The Sloop is a great pub and has improved in many ways from times gone by since it's refurbishment. All ages are catered for, from live sports on the large screen, a pool table, kid's play area in front of the pub, quieter designated zone for adults only and an extensive all day menu and kid's menu. Staff are friendly and helpful, ample indoor & outdoor seating areas and a decent sized car park at rear of the premises. The food was excellent on our visit especially the Ultimate Candymania🍨! Highly recommended to visit any time of the day or evening!

Great place. Food always excellent. Staff very nice. I had the big plate breakfast, wonderful.

Huge plate of food , great service , a little bit spoilt by a terrible steak, the majority of which was inedible. Fortunately I had so much on my plate I was able to transfer some of it over to my wife.
