Wonderful place, very welcoming friendly and attentive staff. The food is well priced, highly delicious and clearly chosen for it's locality (ie fish locally caught etc)I've only met the owner a couple of times before, but, he like his staff is really open, and welcoming. I may have slight bias due to him being one of my mum's childhood friends.Still, great restaurant regardless!Highly recommend, in fact may be one of the best restaurants in the area if I'm honest.Menu has a nice selection, well rounded. What I had:-Starter - garlic mushroomsMain - Game Pie with chips and vegetablesPudding - Passion Fruit Pannacotta

Fantastic pub with great food. We moved to the area about a year ago, and have discovered plenty of great places, but this is by far my favourite. Thai banquet night is great value and incredibly tasty, and recently had one of the best T-bones I've had in many years.

The Old Rydon is old and very quirky, lovely little nooks to sit in with nice real fire. Good out door seating with leather sofas under a grape vine gondola, also a grass area with wooden benches. A conservatory with seating is available, also a converted barn block which is ideal for private functions. Food is available and delicious. Well worth a visit.

Great Sunday lunch. For once beef in a pub roast the beef wasn't overcooked. Good hearty portions - go hungry! Loved Rosie Pig Rhubarb scrumpy cider too!

Thoroughly enjoyed the meal, drinks prices were reasonable as well so even though paid a bit more (but worth it) for food than we might, on balance it was good value. Fantastic building too, full of character..

WOW! WOW! WOW!I cannot believe in my 26 years of living in Devon and I've never been to this absolute gem of a pub/restaurant.I type this message literally 20 minutes after leaving the place having had a superb meal.I shared a starter with my wife, the Mezze Platter. Quality ham, squid, Chorizo, and homemade dips with warm crusty bread and Gluten Free crackers for the wife, it was tasty and a great opener. For mains I had the Pork Belly, with a superb mash potato and to die for cider gravy with a side helping of veg. My wife had the Panang Thai Chicken curry. I've been to Thailand and had a number of quality Thai meals here in the UK and I can honestly say the curry was easily on par. The flavours were bang on authentic!I managed to squeeze a Sticky, Toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream in. Light, fluffy sponge, lots of butterscotch sauce and a quality ice cream. The Rydon Ale was good. Proper ale head on it and decent fruit notes to it.I did have a nosey at other meals coming out and they all looked good. The presentation of the food was brilliant, the plates and bowls used to put food on were really tasteful. The whole feel to the restaurant area is really chilled, lots of plants, great lighting and plenty of room.I cannot find fault with the Rydon. 5 out of 5 for food, drinks, ambience and staff. A great young team with great manners, always smiling and very welcoming. We will definitely be returning. We will be recommending to friends & family, oh and my customers who come to my coffee van. Please, do not pay attention to the small number of low star ratings. There are always a few folk out there who look to moan and are never happy!!!

Lovely atmosphere in the old part of the pub and a bright and airy extension which leads on to the secluded beer garden. Wherever you are seated you'll be in for a fantastic meal. The food is amazing!! I come here on special occasions due to how good the menu is and the gigantic banquet style carverys (you'll be taking home a doggy bag with you!). Highly recommend, we've been back again and again.

Pizza was lovely and fresh. My husbands was quite burnt. The carvery was a little cold and not as nice as expected.
