This pub is easy to miss if just passing through and may look unassuming from an initial glance but walk down the drive in to a cosy court yard garden with outdoor benches and small grassed area and you will realise the potential for this pub, untarnished by over tourism. This is very much a mid to top end local pub and the price reflects that but the food is outstanding, freshly cooked and perfect in every way. The portion sizes were a good size too. Good selection of beers on tap and lovely polite customer service. Beer garden was dog friendly. Would definitely recommend the ploughman's lunch!

Did not use the rooms so no comment on that. Stopped for lunch outside. Customer service was warm and friendly. We had sandwiches which were huge with plenty of filling. Portion of chips was more than enough for one (had to take some home for later). Also very accommodating of dogs. We found this place by chance and so glad we did. We will be back if we are in the area again.

Lovely building, restaurant was good but pretty empty, food also nice with a variety oil dishes. However the staff were just miserable, sometimes its not just what you eat but how your treated. It was a family get together for us and a bit of a treat after the last few years so special experience The lady in particular would rather we weren't there. We skipped pudding, went off to the town and had pudding later at the White Hart which were really welcoming.

Amazing local pub, serving fantastic food. We dropped in for a drink after a hike one afternoon and liked it so much, we booked to come back for dinner. I am a visitor to the area and felt so welcome by the staff and especially the locals and their dog family💖

Lovely setting but that’s about it. I had prawn cocktail which was ok followed by the pie which just wasn’t cooked. I ate the filling and told the waitress the pastry was raw. No apology, just a “I’ll let them know”. We declined dessert and asked for the bill. They hadn’t charged for the pie, still no apology. All in all disappointing, I’ll not bother going back.

Best steak in years if not ever! Fantastic atmosphere, great service, amazing food. Not much more to say - 5 stars!

·

Lovely restaurant with a modern, slightly Mediterranean influenced cuisine, relaxed staff and a nice terrace where we enjoyed our lunch on a sunny day in March. Obviously a meeting point for locals and travellers. We shall come again! 🥂

We spent 2 nights here in January. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The room was spotlessly clean. The bath was lovely and the bed was very comfortable. Would definitely recommend and we hope to return in the future.
