My husband read online about this place, and had it as one of the first places to see and eat at on our holiday so pleased he did , we had a drink the first day and booked meal for a few days later. The owner and her lovely team were so friendly and looked after us so well especially Chloe. The food was delicious and just because they sounded so nice I had two deserts. The inn was so interesting so had a good look round. This place is a must so we will return next visit wishing the pub was nearer to home.

Just returned from a 3 night stay. Food was excellent, accommodation was supremely clean especially as this inn is supposedly the oldest in Devon. It's a little tricky to find on your first visit ( very narrow lanes and a dodgy Sat Nav perhaps) but well worth persevering. Great attentive staff especially young Chloe who despite being a very recent acquisition will be a grand asset to the establishment. Well worth another visit in the future for us

Food good but lunchtime menu small. Recommend the hake beautifully cooked. Good parking. Didn't feel it was good value £ 8-9 for a sandwich and over £20 for a steak.

Booked a table for 4 on the Jubilee evening, the pub is set in a small village down some quite narrow country lanes. Large car park to the front with seating outside. Went to the bar and they had a decent variation of beers, wines and soft drinks, usual pub prices. Menu for dinner was fairly small, about 4 starters and maybe 7/8 mains if I remember correctly, I had the beef brisket burger served with fries, it was very nice and the fries were excellent, backed up by the kids who were well impressed with them with their kids burgers off a seperate kids menu. The wife had a gluten free veggie/haluomi burger which was very good. Service very good all round and food was very prompt. Worth a visit if your in the area, however if your after more common pub fair then maybe not for you. Check their menu and see what you like.

Thank you to the whole team. A very warm welcome from the landlady. Fantastic service from the staff. Excellent table service feom the waitress on her first night and especially to the head chef who despite was running the kitchen on his own gave us 3 amazing courses of food with little or no waiting time at all. Hats of the team.

Absolutely great night out for the pub quiz, great atmosphere, food was superb!! Friendly staff and a lovely traditional old pub interior inside. Can't wait to go back, best cheese cake I've ever had! 😍😍

What an absolutely beautiful little gem of a find literally hidden away in the sticks and run by such lovely hospitable husband & wife owners and staff too. Although obviously very busy when myself and my son checked in to stay on Sunday night, our welcome was warm & friendly, choices for us to fill in for breakfast given with our room keys and we were shown to our rooms which were lovely and clean, with very comfy beds with crisp white bedding and all the little touches you could possibly need, complete with beautiful wooden beams and old doors. Back downstairs for our evening meal we didn't have to wait long for our order to be taken and wife owner (sorry I didn't catch your name) even managed to get the chef to rustle up some truffle fries with Aoli for me which I was really looking forward to trying on our visit (they weren't actually on the Sunday menu). Our meal was delicious!!! The Ramen noodles were sooo tasty and spicy hot as i'd requested when asked, and my son had the korean BBQ brisket burger. VERY IMPRESSED!! And he knows a good burger. The selection of ciders/ales/gins etc that filled the bar was impressive. I tried the Sams Raspberry cider and have found a new favourite. Lush! Breakfast made by husband Paul was served really quickly too and was absolutely lovely!! A proper full English with vegetarian sausages as a choice on tick menu given, perfect eggs, 2 toast, mushroom, beans, tomato, marmalade/jams, cereals if you would like as well as a cafetiere of coffee, juice, tea. At both meals owners asked if everything was ok with our meals and we were 100% happy both times. We checked out with very happy tummies and absolutely loved our stay. The old antiques, cob walls, huge fireplaces and tapestries...leaded stained glass windows...climbing roses...thatched roof. Just beautiful. We will definitely be back :)

Visited the Inn for a surprise birthday dinner with family. Ordered the Venison (medium rare) for my main however, the ‘three’ rather thin and small slices were medium and one was definitely ‘well done’ and tough / very dry to eat. There was also insufficient veg (two tiny carrots and two miniature parsnips). I don’t know why it took almost 35 minutes to cook?I was offered a meat replacement but I wasn’t prepared to delay the others another 35 mins. Getting it right first time would have been better..At almost £25, I would have expected it to be cooked to order and a larger portion to what could have been a starter in other Restaurants/Inns.

My husband brought me here for one of our monthly date nights recently and it was one of our best meals out. The food was absolutely INCREDIBLE and the staff were so attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere was perfect. Thank you for such a wonderful evening!
