Really friendly staff and the food and service was excellent. Our Dog recommends it too with fresh water and bowls provided in the large garden. A* . Great place to stop on the way back from the south.

Absolutely outstanding Sunday lunch, the best I have had in a very long time. Brought our dogs with us and we ate in an outside purpose built booth which had heating if required. The new landlord was brilliant really accommodating, a pleasure to deal with. There were five of us in the party, two had beef and three turkey. The roast dinners were fantastic with generous portions of meat and vegetables. Good selection of beers and ciders to accompany the food. Desserts were ordered and we had the rhubarb and apple crumble plus the cookie dough sharing option which were both excellent. Already making plans for a return visit.

4 of us had Sunday lunch at the Star today. 2 had turkey, 1 had beef & 1 had belly pork. All absolutely delicious, faultless. Lovely friendly service & the deserts , all different, were to die for. Also good value. We will definitely go back, highly recommended.

Stayed in this pubs carpark in our motorhome last night.Had a great meal and had a pleasant evening chatting to the locals. The couple running it have just completed there first week and are doing a great job, so ignore any previous negative comments.Ian and Jane

Easily accessed pub with a nice beer garden with space for the children to play. We found the drinks expensive (£5 for a pint of orange and lemonade top) but there was a wide variety of drinks available including Thatchers on tap and Doom Bar. The staff were all friendly.Food was quite slow in arriving, but they did seem to be understaffed so this was definitely understandable. The shed booths are a nice touch, especially with the heaters, but a group nearby were chain smoking, and the open shed thing seemed to exacerbate that. Nothing that the Star could have done, but it did make eating outside undercover quite unpleasant, as they're quite enclosed. Perhaps a separate smoking area would work?

Lovely hot and fresh food. The woman who served us was very nice and chatted to the little girl we had with us. Nice little play area outside as well. Would recommend.

Amazing roast dinner considering it was the chef's first day there. The guys were really friendly and welcoming - will definitely be returning and making it our local for sure.

Sadly I'm leaving a negative review from our experience at this pub today.Thought we would pop along to the pub as a table of 4 to sit outside and have a few drinks and food. We were told the menu was limited as it was Sunday and they had the sunday roasts. No problem at all! So we ordered 3 mains and one of us wasn't too hungry so just wanted a side portion of chips and fresh bread and butter.First problem was when the food came out we were all a little taken back by the smaller portions. The scampi was also missing the tartar sauce so we ask the waitress to bring some out along with salt/vinegar ect. I myself was just having chips, bread and butter but what was served to me wasn't great at all. The bread was 2 normal slices of bread which felt like they had been left on the side all morning and no butter to go with it! I had to ask for butter and fresh bread. It still wasn't fresh and the chips were cold. We then realised we wernt given any cutlery too.Thinking they would be back straight away with some was the second issue. Our food was getting cold and no cutlery was brought out. We had to go and ask for that too!Again food was cold at this point. My bread and butter got brought back out but it felt the same. We order onion rings that didn't come out with the rest if the food and was so heavily battered they were inedible. We approached a member of staff and their response was they had a party of 14!! What's that got to do with it? She was also not sympathetic at all. There was only one other table outside occupied so it wasn't busy! Now I know why.Unfortunately that other occupied table got the same treatment. Food with no cutlery and having to wait.Left speachless at the service and quality of the food. The worst experience we've had so far.

Lovely building with a great garden area, including slide and space for younger children. Friendly staffing team. We were deemed a bigger party (10) so had to preorder. Rather disappointed with the food, tasted like had been prepared in advance significant and then reheated leaving it very dry and quite small portions.
