What can I say? Booked a table and arrived. The online booking my system made it appear they were really busy but when we arrived they were extremely quiet. We were seated, ordered drinks and went to the carvery. The carvery looked dry having been sat under the heat lamps for a very long time - and the taste reflected this. We sat with our food - the drinks arrived nearly 15 after ordering them. The staff apologised for the wait but even still the place was borderline empty… after we had finished eating we waited nearly 30 minutes for the plates to be collected or for a desert order to be taken. In the time it took 2 other tables had gotten fed up with waiting and walked to the bar to pay their bills and left…When our puddings were finally delivered to the table we had to ask the waiter for spoons as non had been left with the puddings… we paid our bill and promptly left vowing never to return to this establishment.

Unfortunately the carvery was delayed and not ready to serve for 35 minutes after our table booking. That said we weren't in a rush & enjoyed a nice drink while we waited. The food was great once it was ready. The staff were efficient and friendly. The pub was clean and spacious with loads of parking.

When we arrived was very busy it was around 3pm on Saturday. Had to wait a bit, before we could go to the buffet. I think they were topping everything up. Food was delicious. Lady with long blonde hair, who took as to the table, was very nice, not sure if she was a manager ?? However our waitress was terrible, zero customer service knowledge.

I booked a table for two for Wednesday afternoon and received a text confirming the booking. I later received another text saying" Please cancel your table if not needed. I need your table. Please cancel. Don.If this is the way Toby Carvery handles its bookings,I can assure you that I will not be coming again and will advise family and friends to avoid Toby Carvery ,Newton Abbot.

Place was clean and tidy. Waiters pleasant. Chose the carvery. Plenty to eat, good selection, but the food was cold! The cauliflower (cheese) was raw......not aldente, but raw! Coffee was tepid! Sorry.

Went for the carvery. Easy to park. The chef was very pleasant. Food was good. Staff were attentive and friendly. 3 stars because there was no soap in the toilet cubicle I used and I hated the shared toilet. Cubicles to the left for women and to the right for men. Horrible! I did not feel comfortable at all. Women who have experienced certain things will understand. The toilet situation would stop me returning.

Twice in 6 weeks I have tried to have a meal at the Newton Abbott branch and twice totally unsuccessful. The first time there was a wait of two hours for the meats to be cooked and then today no availability, unable to book online and unable for hours to get through on the phone. Today was reservations only as they had an oven fault but there was only 8 people in there and was again told a two hour wait. They seem to like the two hour wait as no one is going to wait for two hours. I travelled in a car to be able to visit a Toby carvery as this is the nearest venue. Will not even bother to try again and have told all my friends and family the same and they have had similar problems and experiences

Booked online for 4 adults and 3 children aged 9, 2 & 1, with notes that my wife needed wheelchair access & 2 highchairs needed, received confirmation by email & text. On arrival we where shown to our table which was all ready for us. Great staff ever helpful even though they were busy and the food was excellent. All in a lovely night out with good food and at a good price.

The food was very nice and the staff very pleasant. Although not expensive it would have been nice if the website had been up to date and didn't advertise discounts which are not available.I look forward to going back, it really was good food and the fact you can go back for extra helpings is always a bonus 🙂

The pub itself is nothing special but overall we had an excellent dining experience. My wife and I went for the lunchtime carvery and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were really friendly and pleasant and the food available was very tasty indeed, in fact one of the best carveries that we've had in recent times. I totally recommend it.
