Welcome Stranger in Teignbridge

The staff were lovely and kept us informed about the wait for food due to a large party which is always welcomed. The food tasted nice and the portion sizes were massive. Only slight issue was the cheese and mushroom sauce was quite runny but it didn't ruin the meal.

Spur of the moment decision to go out for a meal and we were delighted with our choice of venue and food. Friendly staff, great meal and plenty of it too! Hope to be back again soon.

We love The Welcome Stranger, and regularly have a great experience living in close proximity.Out of all the visits we have made over the last two years, the service, food & drinks have always been fantastic.Cosy, comfortable setting inside & out with views up to Haytor Rock & Rora Wood, our dogs love the freedom of the huge garden & also get very well looked after by the staff.Cheers guys!

What a beautiful pub, very warm and welcoming from the minute we walked in with our very nervous beagle. Service and food was both excellent. Can't wait to return.

Food is amazing never had a bad meal here is by far my favourite place to eat that atmosphere decor and staff attitude is brilliant always friendly and helpful and my god does the chef know how to cook a steak

Hospitality at the Un-Welcome Stranger was lacking from the start. Reception was a surly teenager without the ability to speak a single word, facial expression and a head slant was what greeted us. Very odd. The older female waitress was no better. Rolling her eyes, impatient, down right rude. Needs to get some manners and hospitality training. Didn’t get checked on or offered more drinks. We all felt like we were a bother the whole time. Couldn’t wait to leave and will definitely not return. Food was poor too. Tough beef, rock hard Yorkshire pud, cauliflower undercooked. Mashed swede was slops. Our table of 7 for Sunday Lunch celebrating a birthday was wholly spoiled by these two staff.

We have been here several times over the last few years and we have never been disapointed. We absolutely love the food here, the portion sizes are huge. This visit we had 5 adults, a toddler and a baby and requested a table last minute on a busy Saturday night. They fitted us in and gave us plenty of room around our table. The service was excellent and we all left extremely full after pudding! Once again, we cannot wait to return!
