Not usually one to complain, though this was so bad that I even refused a £250 refund with a view to actually claim false advertising entirely. For what is supposed to be a very high-end spa hotel, the spa only fits 4 people (with a hotel capacity of around 900).No treatments unless you pre-book… before you even arrive, and even then it was 30 minutes in a jacuzzi while you are essentially timed. The restaurant was horrendous. Only two items on the menu, one being a risotto, the other being salmon (which turned out to be trout(!)). Also, no spaces to book the restaurant throughout our entire three-night stay, save for one slot at 6.30pm on a Saturday. For over £1300 for three nights this was an absolutely appalling display of facilities and I will be looking to foregoing any other booked trip with any of the hotel groups other places. We paid full price, booking directly with the hotel too.Two good points were the breakfast and one gent. that helped us with our bags, who was brilliant!

There really is not anything to fault excellent polite friendly and helpful staff, delicious food served within a relaxed environment The facilities are immaculate and it’s the small additions that take this from excellent to outstanding, a good range of drinks and snacks in the room, boots and jackets available for those country walks, a wide selection at breakfast and staff that are receptive ensured a wonderful few days away. Coming back after a delicious dinner and an after dinner drink in the snug to find the bed turned down mineral water at the bedside table and a comfortable bed with great pillows was appreciated. The outdoor heated pool an unexpected pleasure of snippy March morning created a memorable end to the stay. thank you to all the team xx

Attended a funeral tea at my aunt’s favourite place. Shocked by the food offered at such expense. Not the quality I had been advised was the norm. Stunning venue, lovely staff- food was dismal

5 stars don't do it justice. Probably the nicest place I've ever been. Attentive lunch staff, friendly spa staff. I felt fully pampered!

This was our second visit and we'll keep coming back for more! Our luxury room at the top of the tower was fantastic and the staff were helpful, friendly and highly professional. Thanks to the team for another wonderful weekend break!

Stayed here for a friend's wedding. The wedding was absolutely perfect, everything was expertly organised and timed brilliantly. The wedding food was amazing. The room we stayed in was just as lovely, very comfortable. Had a very nice breakfast the next morning. Would definitely stay here again.

Really friendly, helpful staff. Delicious food well presented. Unfortunately we were disappointed with our bathroom, there was no heating and the TV speakers were not connected into the bathroom as described in the "luxury" room description and price. Otherwise the room was comfortable.

Great location, stunning building steeped in history, delicious food from the restaurant, (could maybe add some English sparking wines to the wine list?) a big selection for breakfast, very good facilities and wonderful staff. Family friendly, good food and selection for kids. All staff were very friendly and helpful, but the stand out person was Kevin who was everywhere helping people from first thing in the morning until late at night, it's as if there was 5 of him and nothing was too much trouble. We had a great stay and will be back. Thanks to all the staff for making our stay a memorable occasion.

Have only walked round the beautiful grounds with outside eating and dining pods and an outdoor heated pool as part of the spa, those using it were lazing round the pool and deck chairs as if it was July instead of November. I am waiting for someone to invite me there for one of their fabulous glam teas and then I can really do a rave review... watch this space.

Shocking service with rude, inexperienced staff. Mediocre food and drink with extortionate price tag.Afternoon tea was fairly good as was breakfast, albeit with incredibly slow service. Dinner was poor, service even worse. The worst thing about this place is the dirt. Our room wasn't clean and I took a robe out of the wardrobe to find it stained with what looked like fake tan. Glasses and plates are never cleared from tables and the staff seem to wander about in a daze waiting for a grown up to arrive.So-called duty manager was a joke. He seemed more concerned about making his life easy than offering anything approaching service. Raised his voice and argued with me with is never acceptable, even if I was being difficult (I was by this point). The main building is lovely, the modern extension less so, but the whole place feels like a second-rate wedding venue where corners are cut endlessly to save a penny here and there.Cutting to the chase - having spent over £1,000 on a suite, food, wine and so on I feel totally ripped off.
