I feel it best I split this review into two sections: the spa, and the hotel itself. The spa was lovely with modern facilities that include a sauna, a steam room, an ice area, a jacuzzi and a swimming pool. All the facilities looked brand new and were maintained to a pristine standard. We had two 45 minute treatments over our two night stay, both treatments were clearly explained to us before beginning and both treatments were professionally executed, leaving us feeling very relaxed. We also had an afternoon tea in the spa area as part of our package. This afternoon tea also lived up to the high standards set by the rest of the spa. A very delicious selection of sandwiches, scones and cakes accompanied by complimentary Prosecco. The hotel room itself seemed to be from an entirely different era. Our double bed was in fact two single beds that had been bound together, leaving the middle to be incredibly hard and uncomfortable. The walls and ceiling were very thin, allowing all movement from the room above us, and the corridor to be heard. Finally, the bathroom itself had mould on the grout of the tiles in the bath area.Generally, the room looked in dire need of renovation, and was nowhere in keeping with the rest of the hotel or spa.We thoroughly enjoyed our experience of the spa, and the staff in both the spa and the hotel were lovely - it’s just a shame that we were unable to get a good night’s sleep due to the poor room conditions.

Great value last minute booking, clean and comfortable and VERY quiet room, with an excellent breakfast. Its worth noting that breakfast from 7am suits business travellers, a fact many nicer hotels tend not to cater too well for. Evening meal menu in the restaurant had some great options. I had the homemade tomato soup then cod loin on mushroom risotto, both courses were really really good, and sensibly priced.

I have had lovely spa days here. However visited today for afternoon tea and was disappointed. I asked for vegetarian sandwiches but without mayonnaise and got asked by a waitress what I would normally have because the chef was struggling to think of anything. I suggested cheese, cucumber or egg without mayonnaise but the chef wasn't able to make any of those options so I was left woth beige paste that none of my party could identify through taste. I wouldn't return because the rest of the afternoon tea was mediocre at best and the venue isn't as plush as others in the same price category.

The staff are helpful and friendly. The hotel has a great atmosphere, if not a little dated. We had a spa treatment, and I can honestly say that the team at Hatherley are very good.

The worst hotel I have ever stayed in....totally ruined what was supposed to be a romantic spa break for my partner and I for Valentine's. From the beginning the whole booking process for spa treatments was a nightmare...I called the spa on numerous times... left messages and emailed but it took days for anyone to get back to me..by that time a lot of the treatment slots were unavailable with it being Valentine's.The day before I arrived I called to check the check-in time as I hadn't received any emails...I was told that they had sent me an email with all the necessary details with links to book dinner and afternoon tea etc. I obviously hadn't received the email so they resent it. I tried to make my bookings but the links didn't work so I had to call up and waste more time on the phone. The staff on the phone were very unhelpful and always tried to direct me online to sort my stay out.For what is supposed to be advertised as a 4 star country get away spa hotel I was very disappointed. On arrival there are no nice little extras like an arrival drink etc - there wasn't even a kettle and tea/coffee in the room. I had to call and asked room service to bring me a kettle. The rooms on the website look pretty decent and modern but that couldn't be further than the truth...the rooms are really old fashioned..with horrible carpets and cheap furnishings. Even though they apparently serve room service...there were no menu's or booklets in the room with information you might need. The food was absolutely terrible...to start with the buffet breakfast was a greasy English breakfast that had been sitting in silver trays all morning. They used the cheapest poor quality sliced bread and even the menu options weren't great. My partner ordered eggs benedict...it was swimming in so much sauce that he couldn't even eat it.The lunch and dinner were both pretty low standard too and there are not many options to choose from. The Spa wasn't great - on what was supposed to be a relaxing experience it really wasn't as it was packed of screaming children jumping in and out of the pool. The sun loungers looked so dirty and stained...so I had to always make sure I covered then with towels. The large glass window facing outside supposedly adding to the ambiance by showing a nice view of the surroundings was absolutely filthy with water marks everywhere...small details like this just ruined it for me.The spa treatments are pretty standard...we booked to have them together with it being a Valentine's getaway but we ended up having separate rooms as the person booking made an error. To end what was not a great experience at all we were over charged. Even though our package included dinner a treatments. We were charged an upgrade fee of £30 each for 14 minutes extra of a massage so from 45 mins to 1 hour - I was told when booking we would get a free upgrade. I was also charged for dinner on our second night which was supposed to be included in the nightly price. My partner paid the bill and didn't check the details...when I checked the bill once we were home I was appalled by the over charging on what was already a very expensive bill for what it was. The receptionist was very rude and told me to email accounts...I received an email the next day basically telling me I was lying and I wasn't told I would get free treatment upgrades so they refused to refund this. They took responsibility for the dinner charge and said they would refund it back... but 2 weeks later I'm still waiting.I would never visit this hotel again   it was one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had and it's actually quite an expensive place. It really ruined my Valentine's weekend and I'd happily say I would never visit the hotel again, there are so many better options put there for a fraction of the cost

I stayed on the Hibernate at Hatherley package and was thoroughly impressed with the Hotel and Spa.Clean, Comfy and well equipped rooms in a good order of repair. The in room coffee was using disposable cups instead of 'Proper' cups but I assume that's a covid prevention measure and so for allowable...The Spa was exceptional pool, Jacuzzi Steam and Sauna was all brilliant although the tepidairoum's purpose was slightly lost on me.Showers and heated loungers was also great additions 👍 and the cafe looked clean and welcoming too.Food was brilliant although the menu was a little limited both for breakfast and dinner. BUT the fried breakfast was possibly the best I've tasted and all other meals were to such a high standard the reduced menu didn't subtract from my stay.( Although a few more items for reduced carbohydrates ' Omlettes ect' would be nice). The only let down was a few missing pieces if information on the services in the rooms... And the local walking because I found the lanes are tight hedges force you onto the roads and public footpaths are poorly maintained in the area.... I would definitely recommend this hotel tho 👍

We had a one night stay in a deluxe room for £250. Firstly I’d like to say all the staff were lovely, very polite etc however for what we paid it wasn’t worth the money in my opinion. This isn’t moaning but constructive criticism as with some improvements it would be fantastic and go up levels. Firstly our room was a great size with a lovely bed, however the first problem was the shower dial was so stiff that an elderly person, unless very strong wouldn’t be able to move it. My partner wasn’t even able to turn it. The blind in the bathroom only went down half way leaving you in view of the garden so if you wanted a bath your naked body would be exposed ! We had to hang a towel by trapping it in the window. Just not the standard you’d expect for £250 room. It does say deluxe room after all.Onto the dining which wasn’t included in the price. We were seated in the restaurant where we waited for 30 minutes without a drink until the people next to us noticed and gave us their bottle of water. Lovely people, different story! We had previously been warned that they run out of the prawn starter and the steak main (only one on menu) so I then chose the from the special starter section (cheese souffle) to only be told 15 mins later that that was also not available. Please bear in mind the menu wasn’t very vast. I was then left with something I didn’t really want. When the food did arrive it was amazing, really very very good, but it all took so long that we got in there at 8:30 and didn’t leave till gone 11.The spa facilities were great, staff were lovely but it just seems as if the whole thing is understaffed which is a massive shame because with a few more people it would have all ran a lot more smoothly and been a far better experience.I hope this is taken on board as all I want is an experience worthy of the price we paid and unfortunately I wouldn’t go back off the back of this visit.

Zero stars!Only just found out that Hatherley Manor decided to keep the large deposit for a booking they decided to cancel. My wife booked a private room with food etc for my 40th birthday.Granted this was during lockdown in August 2020 but the hotel was open for dining, afternoon teas and overnight stays. They told my wife they had to follow guidance and cancel but kept all of the large (£400+) deposit. We still had afternoon tea which was no better quality than a garden centre with very slow service. To add insult to injury some of my family travelled down and stayed overnight but as they couldn't find the original booking details they had to charge them twice for the two rooms/meals (£500+) they then had to contact someone higher and arrange a refund.Very poor all round, absolutely furious I have only just found about this, stay away!

Not been here for ages and I can't think why.We had a table for four at the Jolly Holly Christmas Dinner and Dance. Excellent quality food served hot and quickly. The Disco Dance Floor was full from the moment the music started. Friendly atmosphere. We stayed the night in a lovely room. It was a bit on the small side but more than adequate.Morning breakfast was included and, again, the quality of the food and service was excellent. We'll come back soon.

Beautiful spa but the hotel was a massive let down especially for the price we a paid! The room was dated, the toilet was positioned so close under the sink, yes under the sink, you bumped your shoulder every time you sat on it. There was rubbish in the hallways of empty pot noodle pots that staff walked past and didn’t get cleared. Staff ranged from being super friendly and helpful to rude and looked and sounded like they did not want to be there.Oh and there was a faulty fire alarm that got us up at 5am !!The spa is a new building at the back of the hotel and the only reason I am giving 2 stars as it was immaculate, massage was fantastic and loved that they offered a joint back massage and facial. The facilities were brilliant, lunch was delicious and staff really lovely. I recommend the spa just not the hotel stay!
