Quite possibly the worst Indian takeway we have ever ordered. Ok, so the food arrived on time and was hot. So far so good. Then we opened the tubs. Firstly, the Raita. This was basically a tub of yoghurt tipped into a plastic container with a few chunks of cucumber thrown in. I could have done it myself. Lazy and poor. Next, onion bhajis: overcooked and virtually inedible. We had a mixed veg side dish which consisted of one quite large chunk of potatoe, which we had to share and a couple of peas. Nothing else. So now for the main dishes. I love balti so ordered Chicken Tikka Balti and hubbie had another chicken dish which I can't remember the name of. Balti should be a taste sensation which is why I love it but not from Bengal Spice. The sauce was just like any normal curry sauce with no flavour whatsoever apart from curry powder and actually, all three dishes - both chicken dishes and the mixed veg had the same sauce on each. It looked as though they had just cooked a batch of sauce the then used it for everything. The whole meal was terrible. Like others have said, the chunks of chicken were enormous. The naan was ok. We paid £40 for this meal which we always halve and keep for another night, but this went straight in the bin. If you were served this in a restaurant you would send it back or refuse to pay. There is an Indian takeaway in Ivybridge called Taste of Bengal and their food is simply to die for. I would rather drive all the way over there and get my next meal. We'd never use Bengal Spice again based on the standard of the food which was delivered to us. Shocking

Ordered a tandoori mixed grill with mushroom rice and it was the worst Indian I had ever tasted. The mixed grill arrived saturated in purple water. Tandoori grills are supposed to be dry but this was saturated and tasted like a casserole and the mushroom rice was so bland it tasted of plain boiled rice with half cooked mushrooms. Save your money and your taste buds.

I've never been here before but as we're now in torquay, and Ganges don't delivery to us, they recommended Bengal Spice, same people own it I think.Absolutely delicious! I've eaten from a lot of different Indians in the bay and this is going in top 3. Delivered faster than quoted, no spillage in bag either, always a plus. Generous portions, and just so tasty! It's a little bit pricier than usual, but the size, taste and service made up for that. I never have left overs bit did enough to stretch out a second smaller meal the next day, which makes it even better value. This will be our first choice everytime we treat ourselves to Indian.

The first and last time we will be ordering from them. Possibly one of the worst Indian meals I’ve had. The lamb was so tough I through it away. The onions in the dish were raw/uncooked and the chicken was drier than Jesus’s sandles. Quite frankly it was awful! I would guess it was the chefs night off and the cleaner cooked it.

First time we have ordered from here.Unfortunately We felt the whole meal lacked flavour.Portion sizes were very good, with alot of meat.Maybe we got them on an off day....

I ordered a Mixed Tandoori Grill takeaway to collect, which was over £10 and I must say it was very average even for a Western palette catering Indo-Bengali restaurant. Lots of large pieces of meat (which tasted nice) but with a sauce so red that my fingers are still stained after washing them with soap TWICE. Few bits of lettuce constituted the salad although the naan was nice and large however. Although I didn't eat in, the decour and lay out of the restaurant itself needs huge improvement. Carpet and furnishings that are very dated and even a load of clothes hangers and a T-shirt hung over one of the wall lights.

0 stars! What on earth have I just received? I ordered the mixed tandoori grill and it was just a greasy mess of tasteless meat. Inedible! The only good thing was the nan bread. 2 mouthfuls then straight in the bin! What a waste!

My family and I ate from here a while ago and were very impressed, tonight however I have to agree with the last reviewer. The 3 different curries we ordered all had massive (oversized) pieces of chicken in them. This may sound like a small thing but it's very hard to know what your cooking with such large pieces and cutting them up revealed dark meat and grisle and just unpleasant chicken all round. The chips we added were just awful, among the worst chips I've ever had from an Indian, again I agree with the last reviewer that they seemed like they had been kept warm for a very long time and were inedible. The curries themselves were very average tasting for want of a better description, there was nothing special here, just a very uninspiring Indian experience. The allo gobi we had was virtually tasteless, although the poppadoms were very nice... Go figure, the best thing I can say about it was the poppadoms.Very disappointed, won't order from here again.

Easily one of the best indian meals I've ever had. My Mrs thought the Hot Masala was a little too hot, but that's her problem not mine haha. With the way the world is at the moment, I was glad to see the delivery was slightly earlier than estimated and food was still very hot.I cant even put in to words how massive the chunks of meat were, and how much they put in each dish! Will 100% be ordering from you guys again!
