Golden Lily in Torbay

I love this place but unfortunately they where unable to put some salt on my chips due to the boss not being there. Sad I know but I won’t be returning if they can’t deal with this situation

Tasty curries and always amazing food

We've been searching for 4 years in the Bay to find a great Chinese...non have ever been close , until the other night when I discovered this excellent Chinese when " my usual not so great Chinese" I use to go to didn't answer their phone. My gain!!! As I discovered the Golden Lilly instead! Ordered twice in one week.The prawn crackers are light , fresh and amazing! The ribs are the best I've ever had, the curry is amazing! The singerpore Chow Mein was delicious and the omelette and chips tasty.Can't wait to sample more as I've been looking for a great Chinese like this for 4 years since moving here.The man on the phone is always a pleasure to talk to and order your food with...he's very friendly and good at his job..could be the owner...The delivery man is great! He found a very difficult house to find as other Chinese delivery people in the past have never found the house and the food ends up going cold ! and another plus with Golden Lily is it arrives swiftly and is piping hot!5 stars from me.Now I get excited to have a Chinese and it doesn't feel like a dread when you want a takeaway.Keep up the excellent food and service. Very good overall. Sweet n sour chicken balls, spare ribs and boiled rice very tasty, decent sized portions, with obviously fresh and crunchy vegetables. Good value and courteously served. No website and cash only a slight hindrance, but waiting time only 12min, and nearby on street parking ok after six pm. Recommended.

Always hot and fresh good value

Love this Chinese! Always good quality, tasty food, and doesn't leave that heavy sick feeling after, like some take outs do. I usually order to deliver so wait time is usually around 45mins but that's no problem for me and food always arrives hot. Best Chinese in my opinion.

On holiday and got hungry. Proper fried rice, tasty and goid value. They are cash only. Staff are polite and service was quick. Really nice food

So I ordered was told 10-15 minutes arrived at 15 minutes and was told come back in 10... Came back in 10 to not even be acknowledged by staff upon my return to stand around and wait for another 10 minutes!!!So in total 35 minutes for your 10-15....The special fried rice was a very light coloured rice which well I'm used to dark but everyone is different it was absolutely tasteless a bland rice topped with chewy slimy meat that actually made me gag so went back in the tub... The prawns popped as you bit into them really not a good start and noticing the chicken throughout the rice was grey in colour is not advertising...BBQ sauce to top which was pink didn't have a bad taste it would have to have a taste to begin with to be bad and this had none...Sweet n sour sauce was glue like honestly that's the only way I can describe it and again no taste what so ever... I was hoping to cover the tasteless rice with something but apparently not...Curry cause was bitty and overly peppery tasteChips reheated and dregsOh and prawn crackers were free but still were stale that's why they're given away...It looked like a dogs dinner I really tried to ignore that and good God the other half couldn't even finish he felt too sick to carry onWaste of money and time oh and BTW the wait.... It arrived luke warm at best!Go to kings Paignton her quality is by far superior to this place I will never try another place again because God when they said the phrase "like curry to a piss head" this places business must rely on that saying...
