Gurkhas Diner in Torbay

Staff were really friendly and place was clean, so feel sorry to levae this review. However, in honesty, the food was quite bland. We had a paneer shashlick, which had far to bigger chunks with no detectable tandoori flavour (was more like tomato sauce). We then asked for authetically spiced mains, being indian, and kindly assured they would do this. I was disappointed that my chilli masala (hot) was really sweet and tasted of coconut, along with chapatis that tasted and felt undercooked (doughy texture).Sadly, would not return.

Absolutely gorgeous food. Been in Spain for a week and barely ate a decent meal. First thing I did when I got back was order from gurkhas and my god it was a good call. Mixed masala with a kick and the missus had the pathia without a kick. Made to order and arrived in less than 40 mins. If you haven't tried them yet, you are missing out on the best.

What a hidden gem! Such a nice surprise to find authentic Nepalese food in Paignton. The restaurant looks very unassuming from the outside, but don’t be fooled. We visited at a quiet time, but they were still very busy with takeaways. All the dishes we tried were absolutely delicious. Staff were friendly and attentive, and we even got the chance to thank the chef in person, as he took time to come to our table to chat after we complimented the food to the waiter. Definitely worth a visit. Good value for money as well, with decent portion sizes. We would happily visit again. Highly recommended!

First we’ve ordered food from Gurkha’s Diner and the food was very good indeed, lots of lovely meat in delicious sauce and naan bread was good. My husband’s Base Camp curry was hot hot hot, but luckily that’s how he likes his curry. We’ve been looking for somewhere new to order our takeaway from and will definitely be ordering from here again.

Superb, cosy restaurant. Excellent food, good size portion's, friendly staff. We even have meet the chef! Highly recommended, we will be back.
