Lovely food and excellent service and friendly staff

Simply amazing place to visit for a coffee or to have something to eat. Lovely staff and plenty to choose from on the menu. It's one of my favourite cafes with such a relaxing atmosphere.

Having had some really positive recommendations about Ella's decided to give them a call and booked a table for lunch, we had a lovely table in the window, the lady brought us some menus and said when we were ready to come up and place our order at the counter. I had the vegetarian quiche and salad, the salad was very good, it consisted of a selection of salads with dressing, my sister also had a similar salad. We were able to sit and enjoy some excellent food and catch up without being rushed. The staff were attentive and courteous would highly recommend giving them a try, we will be returning 😉

I am very disappointed in the lack of service and overall experience from this establishment (Walnut road) on Saturday 23 April around 11:10am. Upon arrival I asked about where we could sit and was told bluntly to find a table without a reserve sign, the lady also explained that someone would come and take our order. After sitting down for about 20 mins I asked some people next to me if someone would come and take our order or if I had to go up and make an order, to which the gentlemen replied, we would have to go up and make an order. First red flag.As I approached the till to make an order another gentlemen also approached, so being polite and respectful as I usually am, I allowed him go first. The male cashier took the mans order, saw that I was waiting next in line with my young 5 month old baby in my arms, it couldn't be any clearer that I was waiting to make an order. But to my surprise he decided to go and remove a cup from a table ( something the younger girl working in the cafe could have done). He then returned to the kitchen area and proceeded to clean a knife (something that could have been done after taking my order). Completely ignoring the fact that I was standing there waiting to make an order. The lady in the kitchen area could also see that I was waiting to make an order. Both the male and female adult workers in the kitchen area made great effort to avoid making eye contact with me. Either one of them could have easily expressed to me that they will be with me in X minutes if they were too busy to take my order right away, but they didn't. Second red flag.The only things that differs between us and the other people in the cafe is the colour of our skin. The reception that we received as a non white family felt very cold and unwelcoming. Before anyone tries to offer the excuse that the staff were rushed off their feet and that this is simply a misunderstanding, my rebuttal is that we gave the staff there ample opportunities to provide us with the same service afforded to everyone else and I was very patient and polite. In addition to this, my wife visited the same cafe with our white friend a few days before Saturday, where we witnessed our white friend receive a totally different experience. Third red flag.So I can only imagine that the workers in this restaurant are living in the past, if that is the case then they should put a sign up that clearly states who they do not serve. In the end I decided to leave and I encourage anyone that is discriminated against to avoid spending their hard earned money with such establishments. Even as we gathered to grab our things to leave, the staff again expressed no interest to see why we were leaving or if we needed anything. Fourth red flag.It's very rare that I have to write such a negative review but may be this will help someone else avoid such a horrible experience. All in all this is a great shame as all of the other places we have visited in Torquay have been very welcoming and friendly.

Small charity shop for a great cause.In here you will find some clothes books and some other items which can vary.There is a wonderful little coffee shop that does coffees teas and cakes.It is does some other items too for breakfast.A great place to meet up with some seats outside available too.

Can highly recommend Ella's, menu is varied and delicious and reasonably priced! Have been here a few times now, for lunches and evening meals. Staff are great, polite and efficient. Can't wait to go again very soon! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/10

Visited for Saturday lunch. Would highly recommend. Had fish goujon sarnie lovely. My wife had the American pancakes which she really enjoyed. Coffee was the hotest I have ever had which was great. When in the area will certainly visit again.

Overpriced. I had ham and piccalilli sandwich which was just ok to be honest. My daughter had macaroni cheese which was tasteless and bland. On a positive I did pick up a nice coat for £6 in the shop. Staff were friendly.

Fantastic cafe and boutique with an excellent and well priced menu. We had pancakes with berries and Greek yoghurt, bacon sandwiches on sour dough toast, and smashed avocado also on sour dough toast. The tomato relish that came with the bacon sandwiches was delicious!Before and after our meal we had a look around the very attractive boutique and ended up buying a few items, all presented very appealingly and priced to sell :) excellent addition to Chelston and we look forward to coming back for more, all the while supporting a great cause.
