at last, somewhere where they know how to serve mussels, that's with a bowl for the shells and warm water with a lemon for your sticky fingers. The chef also knows how to cook scallops. It's this attention to detail which elevates an OK meal to something noteworthy and enjoyable.we just turned up not knowing what to expect, from the outside didn't look like much, they were full inside, but were told someone was just finishing and would be about 10 minutes. we chose to wait, had a warm drink outside and soon enough our table was ready with a lovely view of the sea. There was a cosy feel to the restaurant. The specials board had more choices than the printed menu. Made our selection from the board and enjoyed the view whilst it was cooked. This is the sort of place which I would be happy to have a birthday meal.

Really love this place. Dramatic views of the sea. Cosy and inviting. Staff are excellent - warm and generous and very knowledgeable. Drinks are great - I had a fab red v reasonably priced. Amazing fresh fish with original takes on classics (Monkfish scampi is delicious)Got a terrace with lovely sea views. Gonna be fantastic here in the summer. Can’t wait.

Fantastic views, friendly staff, been several times, food is lovely, not too bad price wise but portions a bit small IMOH had a fish soup which was delicous but really only suitable as a starter not a light lunch..

Beautiful location, great quality of fish dishes. While we booked a table inside we choose to stay outside and brave the weather to make the most out of the view. This was the perfect choice and has made our meal memorable.Having only 5 tables inside and cooking in restaurant can make the experience feel a wee bit stuffy and loud. The location, out of town and punters reserving and not attending is obviously putting a strain on the business. Shoals ask for a deposit at booking and offers 2 sittings for dinner (6pm & 8pm).When we came in for 6PM and asked to start with a drink outside we were reminded a few times that we only had 2 hours. The staff relaxed ovr time and was very attentive throughout. We enjoyed a lovely skatewing and monk scampi and chips, crisp wine overlooking the sea and had a great time at Shoals.

I would like first to say that this restaurant has wonderful views. Their fish selection and meal is fantastic. However having the vegan burger (pictured without house salad) was uncreative and overpriced (Β£13).In a way I feel this restaurant is a victim of it's own success, having only 5 tables inside can make the experience feel clastophic and loud. This is amplified by the two sittings for dinner (6pm & 8pm).Having visited in September, I feel the experience would have been completely different in the summer months. With wonderful outdoor seating, sitting on summer nights watching the boats go by sounds like a dream.I am tempted to revisit to try the pasta vegan option in the hope it has been thought through more than the burger. However I would stay away until the better weather to be able to sit outside.

Beautiful location. (See photos!) Friendly staff and really good service. Food was superb. Cooked to perfection and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended.

A funny little building above the lido, but don't let it put you off! Clean and pleasant inside reminiscent of a beachside chowder shack. Food was impeccable; tasty, beautifully prepared, and best mussels I've had (I recommend the cider and bacon with cream option!). Our accompanying friends were very impressed. The menu is small - but I like that, it means they can probably prepare everything perfectly and don't have to keep loads of ingredients fresh for long periods. Good selection of beers, wines, sparkles and spirits. Staff are busy but helpful and pleasant; chef/owner (I'm not sure) took the time to chat to us. Views across the bay are unrivalled. I guess it can get windy if you have a table on the terrace, but book early - it's very small and quickly books up - and ask for a table inside. Easy parking right next to the restaurant.
