The Beirut Bistro at the Richwood in Torbay

I stayed here a few years ago as it was the only place available for my trip. The place was disgusting the only thing worse than the smell of the room was the smell of veronica. I could not recommend this place less and to this day the thought of the hotel makes me sick. Avoid at all costs.

So glad Saida and Veronica have left. Disgusting people. New owners are amazing and so much better!

Welcomed by a fantastic host whom we didnt get her name but she was amazingly warm and welcoming to us throughout our visit. Even upgraded us to a bigger room at no extra cost when we requested it. Would definitely recommend it and will certainly be back during the summer months to make use of the pool and jacuzzi. :)

Now under new ownership by Ian and Debbie who call the guest house The Purple Tree.Spent a few days here on a short break. Comfortable rooms, fantastic breakfasts. Ian and Debbie have a lot of plans for the guest house and we will be returning. Excellent value for money; not so close to Torquay night life as to be noisy, but still readily accessible.

Stayed at the Richwood Hotel for two nights. We had wonderfully clean bed. White sheets and pillow-slips. Clean bathroom with shower and the bedroom was a nice size overlooking the pool. Plenty of storage for clothing was available. Breakfast was a treat as everything is locally sourced. The bacon and sausage were wonderful and it has been a long time since I have tasted a breakfast as nice. Cereals/tea/coffee/toast were all very good. We were welcomed to the hotel by Saida, a lovley lady who made us feel 'at home'. We did not have an evening meal and therefore cannot comment.

Was given a voucher for a 2 night break, used it at the Richwood over a weekend, small weekend supplement to pay. Lovely little guest house, very clean, we had a small double room with en suite which was ideal for our stay. Only met one of the owners Saida who was lovely, very helpful and very friendly.well equipped hotel, restaurant, small bar , pool table and swimming pool, didn't use the swimming pool or dine at the hotel, though we would if we had stayed longer. Parking available, about a 15-20minute walk from the marina, taxi back less than a fiver, it is on a bus route but we didn't use one. Highly recommend this hotel and would use again.

It's right next to the biggest drug and prostitute house the rooms stink and the host are so rude felt like punshing one of them in the face but kept my cool so glad I got a refund and stayed some were that was not horrible I could not of stayed in there made my stomach turn

This is an extremely bizzare place. It's difficult where to even start. I suppose I will begin with the decision to paint the building bright blue with a spattering of painted on cactuses, very odd. When approaching the front door, the owners have hung up a banner from a fire escape stating "as seen on four in the bed" (more on this later). After getting in through the front door - when one of the owners decides to remember that they run, own and live in a b and b - you are met with an overwhelming stench of stale cigarette smoke, in a very dim and dingily lit corridor addorned with strange Pokémon type tapestries in frames.After that assault course, you do eventually get booked in and have to orienteer the uneven floor that has had a massive underlay thrown on it before being carpeted. The room we stayed in had two doors to it, one of which had a plasterboard on the inside of if that they had used as part of the bathroom wall, ofcourse this door couldn't be opened but confusing none the less. We had a strange orange light in the room that we dubbed "the porno light" constructed from bits of off cut drain pipe (I inspected it) and illuminated the room with a very vivid orange glow (maybe something reminiscent of Amsterdam?).Without going into to much more detail, as I'm sure the points getting across, we decided to watch the advertised episode of "four in the bed", if you don't know what this is, look it up, familiarise yourself with the concept of the programme and watch it before you decide to visit. On said episode, both of the owners of the "Richwood" aka the Poorwood", are extremely rude, arrogant and obnoxious to the other b and b owners, going as far as to say they were only willing to pay the owners enough money to cover one hours minimum wage. That they suggest be used to pay to have their room cleaned, after refusing to stay in it. On that note, our room wasn't particularly clean and much to our horror we were sleeping under the same three year old bedding that featured in the episode.

A very dated hotel with little charm, the place smelt of cigarette smoke and there was no evening meal service. Only stayed here due to it being the hotel my company found and booked due to lack of availability elsewhere.

Hotel was in a lovely position nice to bus stop to various places, but it is very dated but i would say its clean.worse thing was poor choice for breakfast and no cooked unless you paid exra,also no clean towels for 5 days and you only get biscuits on your first day.with a little more thought this could be a lot better for little extra cost.
