The Cow Shed in Torbay

Lovely meal at the Cowshed this weekend - good portions, reasonable prices, owner very polite & helpful, giving recommendations and just an all round great bloke! Food was delicious too and not rushed off your table. Would recommend and would return if we were in the area again.

Food is bang average and way overpriced. Steak was very chewy. One member of our party did not receive their food as the manager got the order wrong. As everyone had finished eating, it had come so we couldn’t even all eat together. The manager came to apologise but didn’t take anything off the bill. Common courtesy would be to take off the meal that was wrong and minus it off the bill. Instead he blamed the waitress and was very rude. Then funnily enough the deserts were also wrong. We didn’t kick up a fuss even though we were annoyed. And like I said the bill was full priced with a service charge despite making many mistakes that completely ruined the meal for us. Place is just a cash grab, plenty better options near by

Booked table for next day, as fully booked the day we arrived, so definitely need to book a table.Greeted by friendly staff,lead us to our table, lots of choice on the menu, the owner Paul very friendly and knowledgeable about the Gins, the meals we had were absolutely delicious, good portion size, and highly recommend the homemade ice cream,very enjoyable evening, great food, great service, will definitely come again.

I think the owner Paul is fantastic?! He makes the place and is a big reason why we love coming every year on holiday! Brilliant banter and a good laugh which by the looks of things some people don’t get or understand by the looks of some reviews. Fantastic food and we can’t wait to go back next year, thanks!

Have eaten here many times. Food always consistently of a high standard and proper size portions. Owners are great and down to earth. Good drinks selection, would recommend the fallen angel vanilla rum 😋

We were about to leave Brixham but passed this place and thought it looked lovely, so we went and moved our car to a different carpark and walked back. As soon as we walked in the door we were scowled at. When we asked for a table the man just said fully booked and walked off like we were a massive inconvenience. We won’t bother to come back or recommend to anyone else. Such a shame. Maybe try being polite. The restaurant only had one table in at this point, and I understand that you were fully booked. But no need to be so rude. A young waiter did try to say hi and be welcoming, but the older man cut him off. Had this not of happened we would’ve booked in for another night.

Absolutely amazing food. If we lived here would definitely come more often. The staff are also brilliant, very helpful & polite. Paul made our experience better with his humour. If I or around brixham would recommend :)

Visited this evening, staff were friendly, great service being both quick and accommodating. Food was really nice. Focused towards more on meat eaters however the vegetarian options are also very yummy. Good desert menu, all home made. Highly recommend you visit here! Book in advance though as its not the biggest restaurant and does get booked up!

If you are looking for fine dining it’s probably not for you - it’s a bit rustic hence the name I guess - the food is fantastic, I had the short rib which was melt in the mouth and delicious- the sticky brisket was yummy served with salad, chunky coleslaw and sweet potato chips - my husband had ribs and wings and he was more than happy with the choice - not surprised it was fully booked for the next 2 weeks
