The Museum Cafe in Torbay

Ordered coffees and drinks no problem, I went back a few minutes later to buy a banana for my 4 year old daughter whilst being sat in their seating area drinking the drinks and was greeting with an extremely rude WE ARE CLOSED and wouldnt let me pay for a banana for my daughter to eat whilst we sat and drank our coffees. Rude service and would not return or recommend!

We stayed in Polperro and had an enjoyable week and was able to travel to the differing towns and villages by both the coastal paths and by car/bus.Fantastic week except for 2 out of 3 trips to the Heritage Musuem cafe. 1st visit (Thursday 7th July) we met a nice lady who served us a millionaire shortbread (termed Guzmillionaire shortbread), very nice and we had a coffee to go with it. Great service. We paid by debit card.2nd visit, we ordered the same (Friday 8th July) prior to our walk to Looe, however was met with an abrupt server who told us (whilst on the phone) that service would be 10 minutes because she was alone and she had to move a box, which was no issue at the time. However after standing for about 3 minutes we were shouted at for continuing to wait by the counter...... we decided to leave. Poor customer service and basic communication skills.3rd visit (Saturday 9th July), we went back to order our usual order to be told that the new limit for contactless was now £15, after previously being served the same items and paying below this threshold. We walked away however on doing so this time was approached by another customer astonished also, were we shared the previous days interaction. What we learnt was this wasn't an isolated incident by these particular individuals...In a nutshell, potentially a great place let down down by 2 particular servers which is a shame, especially for a tourist town. Maybe try the Plantation Cafe or a local cafe by the Chip Shop (1 minute walk) for a better experience.In terms of the museum itself, I cannot comment as I did not visit.

Lovely fresh pan au raisin and flat white.Served by very friendly staff.Great window sill table overlooking the harbour.

Wow. Had lunch here and got a prawn sandwich. Absolutely fantastic. Proper doorstep sandwich and comes with lovely salad and crisps. Brilliantly placed right on the harbour. Also had a Cornish pasty which was brilliant too. Well worth a visit

First time in Polperro, and it was delightful. Proper olde worlde English fishing and smuggling harbour. Chancing upon this lovely little tearoom right on the harbourside and next door to the museum, chose to partake of a prawn sandwich. Quite possibly the best sandwich ever, absolutely packed full of tasty prawns, and served with a plentiful side salad. Highly recommended, and we will be back for more on a future holiday.

Feeling not welcomed at all sadly. Wanted to wait for a table whilst it rained but was not allowed to even stand inside under the roof for a few moments. Instead our 5 and 6 year old got soaking wet.The sign of "grumpy old men welcomed" is definitely not true, we should have been a bit more grumpy! Tearoom lost £30 revenues coffees , food and cakes which we spent elsewhere.

It is a nice place overlooking the harbour, inside and outside seating, nearby toilets, it's a small place and can get busy. Best when tide's in. Some steps to get to the cafe

Loved the gluten free options of cake! Rich hot chocolate! And beautiful views.(No card minimum spend when we visited)

Having had a wander around Polperro, we popped in for a couple of lattes and scones, we were not disappointed, really nice coffee and the scones with cream and jam were excellent too. There is a minimum card spend of £15, however you can withdraw cash from the post office (with no fee), really lovely little find, would recommend.

Rude service. Allegedly had to spend a minimum of £15 when paying by card. Coffee was like dish water. Great location but not good enough. Raise the game!!
