Where is The Wighton?

🏠 Orchard Way, Torquay TQ2 7JA

"Situated on the outskirts of Torquay, The Wighton is a great place to eat out with family, friends, or business associates. Named for one of the last Watson-class sailing lifeboats to be stationed in the area, we’re a perfect destination for locals, holidaymakers, and families looking for restaurant-style pub food served in a casual atmosphere. The main attraction is our rotisserie oven, which flame roasts tender birds until the skin is perfectly crisp and flavoursome and the flesh is beautifully moist. Not in the mood for chicken? Our menu of pub classics has been chosen for its authenticity and flavour, and our restaurant-style takes on fine pub dinners are comforting and satisfying."

We visited regularly from when the Wighton opened, though stopped as the service declined somewhat. However after revisiting over Christmas for breakfast with Santa we noticed a great improvement. We also visited again on Thursday and we delighted with the overall experience. Service and staff were fantastic, food was delicious. Well done to you all, we will be visiting again and frequently

Second visit in two weeks. Lovely food and drinks in a great relaxed atmosphere. First class service from front of house and kitchen team obviously working very hard to deliver delicious food for really sensible prices. We will be back again very soon.

Good food at good prices. Service has been slow in the past but last night was very good. Even our 3 year old granddaughter was pleased with how quickly she got her burger!

·

Fabulous food, brilliant staff. The Lithuanian lady looking after us was so welcoming and attentive without being intrusive, a great advertisement for your pub/restaurant.

·

Didn't have gammon so was told no mixed grill available but had everything else? Made no sense and kind of put us off. Chicken had two bones in it. Other than that nice place, food was tasty

We had booked a part of the restaurant area for friends & family, following a cremation service earlierWe were delighted to have a secluded corner with perfect visibility of the car park and from the entrance door way, so we didn't lose anyoneThe staff looking after us were exceptionally kind & understanding; happily keeping a tab open so that everyone could eat & drink whatever they wished, whenever they wished (much better than the more traditional buffet) and ensuring the tables were served & cleared as unobtrusively and courteously as possibleWhilst a very very sad occasion, the Wighton experience was exceptional (better than 5 stars!). Extraordinarily good value for money as well, we were very pleasantly surprised when we paidThank you so very much

Roast Chicken amazing, Minted Lamb amazing. Both fell off the bones. Lasagne was lush. Deffo with getting the extra yorkshire pudding... 👌

We arrived on time, and a quick "will be with you in a minute" from staff member asking us to wait at the door. Soon a chap came and checked us in, taking us to the table given us the menus. We could see they were run off there feet, although there were not many people in the area where we sat. We ordered after a while of waiting, drinks and meal. The meal seemed to take such a long time to come as more drinks were ordered. In previous visits the meal came out much quicker.

Quite dissapointed. We were expecting a better experience. When we first walked in the manager (assumption) shouted they would be with us shortly. A new starter then dreamily walked over to us to to tell us he couldn't use the hand held equipment. An experienced member of staff then found our reservation and took us to a table. We then waited 10 MINUTES for our drinks order to be placed. I tried to order starters with my drinks at this point and was told its probably best to order mains aswell together. I hadn't even looked.Either mixed grill or sirloin? Then when taking order they were out of mixed grill. Sirloin it was. Medium rare. Starters came, and my calamari was in balls, which I had never seen before. They were very chewy. The nachos were amazing though. Our mains came in seconds of our starters being taken, a bit of time would of been beneficial. My steak was more rare that med rare, and my partners gammon was over cooked all in all it was all very mediocre. Chips were lovely on a plus.
