Puffing Billy in Torridge

It's a lovely little location and the best you would expect from a basic cafe. Standard food but done perfectly.

Excellent , staff lovely .All food & drinks excellent ..My favourite place as I walk on the tarka trail and cycle too. We had lots of snow and to my joy this wonderful place was still open to enjoy and to give me a boost for my last mile ..thankyou all ...most highly recommended..

What a find. This light and airy cafe sited near a walk and cycle trail provided us with a delicious breakfast. No wonder there was a queue waiting for it to open. Local produce, reasonable prices and friendly staff made it a real treat and a great way to finish off my holiday in Devon

Puffing Billy is one of my favourite stops when cycling along the Tarka Trail and we have been a few times now, for breakfast, lunch and Sunday carvery. The food has always been very good, very friendly staff and overall just a great little cafe. With the train just outside it is also great for children. The cafe has lots of seating outside as well and is a dog friendly place. Just opposite the cafe is Torrington Cycle Hire, where I believe you can also pop in to have your bikes repaired.

The Puffing Billy Old Station cafe is a lovely dog friendly stop for a meal or just a cuppa and some cake😋 as we did. They even sell dog biscuits. Nice relaxing interior or garden if you want yo sit outside. Very enjoyable glose to a wander down the Tarka Trail.

Very welcoming place, food was fantastic. Bubble and squeek, poached egg, avacado , salsa. Sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. Great latte coffee. Going back soon.

We called into the Puffing Billy Cafe after a walk on the Tarka trail. We had a pot of tea for two & coffee & walnut cake. The cake was so fresh, moist & delicious and it was a lovely pot of tea with fantastic flavours. We got five cups of tea out of the pot.The lady who served us, cleared & sanitised a table especially for us, so we could sit out of the way, as we are shielded.Great, friendly service, will definitely visit again, and I certainly recommend the Puffing Billy Cafe.

Our eating experiences at the Puffing Billy are always eagerly anticipated. Excellent, unfussy service. Good food in the quirky and well maintained surroundings of the former Torrington Train Station in safe conditions, necessary during the continuing Covid-19 pandemic. Long may the venue continue.The Sunday Roast takeaways have been a must during the pandemic restrictions. We always have the nut roast choice. No complaints.Dave and Liz ClinchTaddiport

Great location and tasty food after a good walk on the Tarka trail. Went back for breakfast the next day! Only complaint was the temperature which was a little chilly. Otherwise really nice.

Fabulous Roast Turkey lunch at The Puffing Billy. Great service and Jade and Claire the new owners were fabulous hosts. Lovely feel of a former railway station with rail memorabilia. Would recommend.
