Staff were loitering a lot, but when you needed staff none were available even though the restaurant was quiet. Also the water jug was dirty and when I requested a fresh jug, the response was rather rude. Quite a long wait for mains. Also the duck was well over cooked. Not a great choice of vegetables, all beige. Staff require training, given the price of food the service and quality was not reflected satisfactorily. Very disappointed I will not recommend and will not return.

The Hotels was really good, large room, good food and very pleasant and helpful staff. Ideal quiet location away from the town just the other side of the bridge. Would definitely stay again.

My wife and I attended our rugby clubs end of season presentation evening here. Great facilities, very friendly staff and not silly prices at the bar considering it's a very nice hotel. The food was excellent too...

Lovely friendly staff, my room (202) was very comfy even though it was at the front it wasn't noisy, only downside is its on a very busy corner and the carpark is across it, the food isn't as good as I was hoping after looking at the website, still very nice though, the staff made up for it

We have been well looked after for our 3 day stay, 6th to 8th May 2022. Rooms, we had 4, are excellent and comfortable, Breakfast has been very good, Reception staff have been very helpful and knowledgeable, and our bar staff have looked after us very well

Very helpful staff, the food is delightful, the dining and bar area very comfortable. We enjoyed a last minute 1-night stay, and went back for Easter Sunday lunch. We would highly recommend it.

The location was perfect. I had a function just 10 minutes walk from the hotel which was perfect. The local train station is not in use, however getting there by public transport is not difficult. There is a bus No. 21/21A from Barnstaple Train Station that stops outside the hotel. The reason I gave a 3 on service is..I requested an iron from the hotel and was advised i would have that sent to my room. After waiting an hour & going down twice to chase up i went back down and was told the iron had been delivered. I advised that it hadn't & on checking it was confirmed that it had actually been delivered to the wrong room.If you book through Hotels.com please note that they have the check in for 2pm however the hotel's check in is actually 3pm.You're just by the river and the town centre wass walking distance.I ate out but had breakfast. Full English buffet and it was amazing freshly done. The chef was on hand to replenish. They ran out of a few items and they where cooked straightaway.

Quite possibly the worst en-suite I have ever witnessed, its tiny and you sit over the sink whilst on the loo. The shower is awful giving both hot and cold water with no pressure, absolutely no where to dry. The rest of the room is no better with the lights keep on dimming for no reason. The decor is dated but the pillows are good. Added a star because the staff were very good

First time to this hotel and Bideford. Went for the new year Eve package. Have to say we had a wonderful time. A perfectly adequate room all that we needed. Great food and excellent service from friendly staff. Have to say shout out for the room cleaning we went down for breakfast and came back to clean towels bed made etc. Great job. Hotel is part of a family owned collection will certainly be looking to revisit and try out the other hotels. Can't recommend enough!!.
