This place is of outstanding value, food and beer are inexpensive, and they must just about break even because of the volume of sales. Saying that every table was full when we visited on a Thursday night, so booking is advised. A good selection of local ales - Black dog being very quaffable. When had the veggie chilli, with a mix of chips and rice, felt very Brit like ordering something with both rice and chips, but glad we did as the chips were amazing, perhaps some of the best I've ever had. Friendly service, an old pub feel and perfect for the area. Only downside was perhaps the lack of a veggie pie option, or veggie curry on the menu; it would have given more variety and ensured we came back a second day given how good the chilli was!
