The Fountain Inn & Riverside Restaurant in West Devon

Phoned on a Sunday afternoon to check if they were still serving food (3pm ) and if they were dog friendly, yes to both so five of us popped in for drinks and food, staff were friendly, helpful and very attentive, we had 2courses, deep fried brie was lovely and the prawn cocktail almost a meal in itself!! Five main courses were all delicious and when we requested mayo we didn't get the silly tiny portion some pubs serve!! Would definately recommend this pub.

Although it's easy to find on the main high street finding the Car park in the dark is a bit of a mystery tour . Other than that it does what it says on the tin . Were disappointed the kitchen was closed early evening , thank goodness for a nearby Witherspoon's.

Had a Christmas meal with the wife's firm great company food was ok would definitely visit this again

Friendly family Inn steeped in history. Good accommodation with town centre free car parking. Great real Ales.

This characterful pub provided a superb one night stopover on our family cycling tour from Barnstaple to Plymouth. A great pint of Jail Ale to quench the first. A hugely satisfying Brixham fried fish for the supper, and a super comfy bed for the tired limbs. Soft and squidgy. Service excellent from Jenni and her Dad. Very welcoming. Secure cover for three bikes. Electric battery charging no problem. It is a town centre pub, so traffic noise is understandable. You might have to take off the duvets as ours were wrong season. Otherwise breakfast was continental and very well priced. Very clean, would return every time.

Stayed for one night whilst cycling coast to coast with my son. Did the job, clean twin room. Secure undercover cycle storage as promised. Was called a day or two before and required to make upfront payment (reservation was payment on arrival) Don't serve food on a Monday evening. Breakfast continental with limited choice. Not the 'Full Devonian Breakfast' described when we booked.

The meal I had Steak and Ale pie was delicious My friends Toad in the Hole which was a small Yorkshire pudding with a sausage placed in it But my friends said it was very niceUnfortunately I've given it a 4* as we had to wait a long time for food The poor barman was trying to serve drinks , take food orders and serve them as well Also impressed with a tip being added to the bill I'm afraid they list out there were 5 of us so they would have had a extra top x

The dirtiest place I have ever stayed in. Had to wear socks as carpet was so stained. Mold around bathroom shower had to be washed before I used it and smelt of tobacco throughout.A dog was left in a room all day barking and scratching to get out.Not worth £75 per night which is taken before you get to see the room. WOULDN'T RECOMMEND

Sadly not what we had expected advertised as doing fried breakfast this was not the case dry croissant and yoghurts brought from a supermarket 3 for £1.20 also the coffee my relation asked for was given in a mug of hot water and a coffee sachet marvellous considering we paid £70.The bar in the evening was shut at 9.15 pm so trip down road to weatherspoons to obtain drinks sadly can’t say we will be staying again.
