My husband and I had the most amazing Valentine's Day treat at this hotel. A night in the Belvedere Room with fabulous 4 poster bed and views onto the Moor . We had a delicious 4 course meal in the restaurant too and a Full English breakfast was included in the price for the room . Fabulous !! We will be back.

The food was good but it wasn't very friendly. Was dining alone, they just about said goodbye when I left. Went to another pub nearby the following night, food less good but had a lovely atmosphere. Will go there next time I visit, not to Oxenham

What a fabulous stay at the Oxenham Arms. It was only for a couple of nights this time, but we will definitely be back for a longer stay. We really cant find fault. The hotel itself has an enviable history and is set in the beautiful village of South Zeal. Our welcome was warm and inviting and the owners, Lin & Simon were very hospitable. John was very friendly as he checked us in, booked us in for dinner, showed us to our rooms and talked about the hotel. The room we stayed in was immaculately clean and the bathroom spotless. We particularly liked the touch of leaving your shoes (in a shoe tray) outside the room. We loath dirty carpets in hotel rooms and this is a simple but really effective way of helping to keep the rooms spotless. As for the food, it was delicious. Everything is freshly made and the chefs deserve real praise for the quality of food they deliver. Our hostess, Hollie was an absolute delight. One more observation...... we have noted a recent scathing review given by someone who was at breakfast at the same time us and accused the owner of being rude. This has astounded us as it isn't true. Its actually the other way round and the women actually came across as rude to the owner. It is quite sad how you can post such a bad review when its not actually what happened.Superb hotel and restaurant and cannot recommend the Oxenham Arms highly enough.

Hopefully, as we have informed you of where in the room the torch is, you will now realise we haven't stolen anything. This is libellous. We have tried twice to speak to you but you don't appear to want to ring us back. Looking at similar negative reviews, I realise defensiveness is your only response so I don't expect an apology, but I'm appauled at the lack of professionalism and customer service. I wrote an honest review, which I am entitled to do. DO NOT STAY HERE. If you complain you get threatened.

Picked this hotel as we wanted a place to stay whilst we walked around Dartmoor. What a perfect place to stay it turned out to be. Wonderful staff, absolutely fantastic food and a lovely room to sleep in. The hotel is seeped in history and a definite place to re visit. Indeed we plan to go back Easter time. Would highly recommend.

Really fabulous place. Friendly welcome, beautiful room, super comfortable bed. Good range of well kept beers, and the food was awesome. Also dog friendly. What more could you want?

I've reviewed this place on another site a few times but really wanted to put one on here today as we are just back from a couple of nights at "The Ox" where we were really well looked after. It feels safe, the food is good, the rooms and beds are lovely and characterful, the staff are great. The odd person seems to moan about the mask policy, which is no more than the recommendation made by government, but I heard people being advised of the policy when booking plus it's posted on the door so it shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. And my Pina Colada made by Lyn, one of the owners, was just perfect. Not that you need to worry whatever you want to drink, with a range of wines, spirits, ales and soft drinks that would be the envy of far larger establishments. And the food! I'm not vegetarian but was tempted to try a vegetarian curry one night, much to the surprise of my family, and it was delicious!

We went here for lunch with our two small dogs. The woman behind the bar was very rude as soon as we walked in. She asked us to put masks on. I informed her I was exempt and she asked me to prove it! I told her she wasn’t allowed to ask me that so she said well how do we know then? I hope she enjoys paying the £5000 fine for making me feel awful from a disability. We walked out by the way and found a much friendlier place.

We stayed at the Oxenham Arms for 3 nights and couldn't of picked a better place to stay. The Inn itself is exceptional stacked with history. Our room was excellent with no faults. We had breakfast and dinner every morning and evening and every meal was a treat.Wonderful chefs, 5 star quality food. The hosts were very accommodating and friendly to chat with.I wouldn't hesitate to recommend and will look forward to another visit if we are in the area again. Thanks for a lovely time.

Had been recommended by friends for lunch and didn't disappoint. Attentive staff food was fresh and well presented. Loads of history about the place originally a Benedictine Monastery built around a prehistoric megalith, that can be seen as part of the wall in the snug.We sat inside first then went into the gardens for cheese and biscuits, lovely view. Recommended.
