Wonderful staff who are very attentive and polite. We had a few minor issues upon arrival which were swiftly rectified. The room was clean, the bed very comfy which was a relief as hubby has a bad back, and even the pillows were just right. The food here is amazing. Catch of the day was plaice with a seafood chowder. I highly recommend it and their cream teas which come with 2 freshly baked scones, a generous pot of tea, clotted cream and raspberry jam. Very yummy. Breakfast here is also very good. I highly recommend the Eggs Royal or the full English. Parking is very limited so we took the superior rooms that come with their own parking place. Worth the extra pennies as the public car park is a good 5 - 10 min walk away. They are very dog friendly providing free doggy blankets and biscuits in the bar area. The only place you cannot take the dog is in the atrium dinning area, but the bar area is more cozy with open fires at either end. All in all a lovely hotel to use as a walking base for Dartmoor. We hope to return soon.

The best tasting meal l have enjoyed in a long time with great staff to make a great evening perfect.

Beautiful hotel with a lots of history. Nice comfortable room. Food was absolutely delicious! Only down side was limited parking on-site. However, there is a 24hr stay car park a few minutes walk up the road thats reasonably cheap. Also some of the rooms are dog friendly.

Gorgeous pub and hotel. Myself and my partner stayed for one night as a birthday treat. Ate dinner which was to die for (fillet steak) and the amaaaazing chocolate brownie was one of the best I have eaten at a restaurant. Pricing was great too!

Visited here on the 1st night of our honeymoon. We rang to enquire about a table but due to the price of popularity we were informed that they were fully booked, but after a moments contemplation we were then told that if we don't mind sitting in the bar on a small table we could be seated for dinner. Although it was a bistro size table for 2 it was big enough fir us to enjoy 2 courses with drinks. The food didn't disappoint and it was obvious why the restaurant was so busy. Very well cooked quality food, efficient and courteous staff, great drink selection and a very nice ambiance means that although we live in London we will most definitely return in the not too distant future.

Service was very poor - arrived early on after a long drive and we were greeted with a grunted reply by staff saying we were early and could not park in their car park. No mention of anything like "oh you are a bit early but please come in from the rain, take a seat in the bar whilst we get your room ready etc."The food is also quite average and nothing to rave about. Another downside was that our room was cold with no warmth in temperature nor decoration. To be precise the bedroom heated up after a while but the bathroom had no heating so was permanently ice cold. The location is fantastic but this pub inn is quite average and staff need proper hospitality training.

very nice beautiful hotel in beautiful small village, we have stayed here for two nights..The stuff are polite and helpful.very nice and tidy room.. but not in 5 star level!!! as there was no fridge, no air conditioning unit, it was very warm at nights and we have asked for electric fan but we were ignored!Limited options on breakfast menu however it was very tasty. For dinner we had sea food platter which was very nice, although tiger prawns were missing in our dish,, it would be nicer if they would let us know if they're finished.. and they charged us full price!STRANGEST thing was the lady who was hoovering the reception every morning at 5am and signing loudly!! that is happened both mornings that we were there! never seen this before!!It was expensive for the services that we've got but we had really good time in Chagford and we may comeback again!
