Herbies Dino Bar in West Dorset

Good size fish freshly cooked, though incredibly greasy. Chips were straight cut oven type.

How this place gets such a high rating is beyond me, service took ages, chips are just frozen with plenty of black bits, however the fish was a bit better. Very disappointed, no one in our group finished their lunch.

Only had the scallops, lovely and fresh and cooked perfectly, nice guys working in there and a quick service.

Just had fish & chips piece of fish, curry sauce all well cooked staff very friendly have used before and will use again.

We stopped for scallops and chips and fish and chips, absolutely amazing scallops were perfectly cooked with a wonderful dressing, batter on fish really crispy and tasty lovely crispy chips thankyou. And a great price

Great fish and chips. The whitebait especially were excellent. We did have to wait quite a while as they were very busy and the service seemed to be struggling to keep up with the orders coming, but we got our food eventually. And it was worth the wait. Special fish was bass which was lovely, and the chips and scampi were fantastic too. Only thing I would say that could be better would be a homemade tartare sauce instead of the stuff that comes out the packet. Would return next time we're in Lyme.

I have eaten at many places in this country and have to say this is one of the worst ever. They kept running out of food and messed orders up, the staff were rude, disorganised and only interested in the young girls that were hanging around. Strange how they got food that had supposedly run out.I waited 45 minutes for my food and I will give them their due it was hot, but to that end it was either over cooked ie the squid or under cooked ie the chips.Please avoid if you don't want to wait forever or be disappointed with the food that was served.If I could have given this place a 0 ot of 5 stars I would

We came here two different times. Staff are nice and seem to talk and half a laugh. It’s a nice atmosphere.Now the price is good here it’s not mega expensive so I’m not too picky on it.I would recommend stick to the fish and chips. They are really good from here. On two occasions I and my other half got burgers from here they were very, very greasy. So unless we both got unlucky both times I would avoid them and stick with the other menu. As for the rest of the menu. I am unable to attest to what quality the rest of the menu is like.I recommend this place.

Best scallops and best chips of my life, huge portions too

Lovely big piece of cod. Tender and succulent. Had to wait a bit as they’re cooked fresh to order. Chips are decent but they’re not proper chip shop chips though.
