Beautiful and cosy atmosphere, only a small restaurant which, to me, makes it all the more special. Fourth time here and never had an average experience, let alone a bad one. Classic French cuisine and gorgeous wine, what more can you ask for

We found this little gem on our last holiday. We booked it again on our return and were not disappointed. Plenty to choose from on the menu and each course ended with an empty plate. So delicious, we are going back on our last night 😋

From the moment you walk through the door you are made to feel extremely welcome. The layout inside is very cosy and homely. While waiting for our starters we were brought a cauliflower soup and different breads as an appetizer. My partner, not normally liking cauliflower thoroughly enjoyed it. Our starters were delicious as were our main courses and desserts. The amount was perfect, leaving us comfortably full. We will definitely be returning.

Little hidden gem. The food here was amazing. A fantastic choice and perfect amount. The service was professional and friendly. Can't wait to go back.

Wonderful restaurant hidden in a smaller village outside Dorchester, Le Petit Canard is ideal for a relaxed and quiet evening out with delicious food and great service. If you like quality food and want to avoid the crowds, this is the perfect choice. It's a little pricey but in line with the quality.

Excellent meal although there were only four of us in the restaurant being a Tuesday it was lovely. My only slight grouse would be the vegetables which were a little uninteresting, which is a shame as the meat we had, venison and pork were excellent. Definitely go again.

Really lovely meal all our courses were amazing, absolutely recommended. Service was excellent thank you so much. We came to this restaurant for a 40th birthday party nice touches to the table.

We have been going to Le Petit Canard for a good many years now, and it never fails to delight. Gerry and Cathy Craig do a marvellous job. It's basically Gerry in the kitchen, Cathy front of house, with local young people assisting at busy times. if you want big city sophistication, well you probably wouldn't even be able to find Maiden Newton. But if you want an unhurried meal, an excellent choice of dishes and a splendid wine list, all in 'deepest darkest Dorset', then this is the place for you. Watch out for their special evenings: we took friends to the 'Glut of Game' evening last week and have made two converts!

My family and I had a lovely lunch at Le Petit Canard - to celebrate my birthday. The food was delicious, the room and the whole ambience was warm, and the staff smiley and chatty. Loved it and we shall go back again.Victoria Kirby

Had high hopes but did not enjoy our meal. My wife had a lot of crab shell in her crab meat starter and my main course duck was very tough. Mentioned to waitres was offered no apology or bill reduction.
