Having recently moved in nearby, we have visited several times and can confirm that the food is of a consistently high quality, reasonably priced... And extremely scrummy. Excellent beers, especially if you prefer proper ales, and the staff are all charming and helpful. Thoroughly recommended!

Absolutely lovely little pub. The staff were really lovely and welcoming and the food was absolutely delicious! My father in law said it was the best steak he's had! Will definitely go back when in the area again

Just eaten at the Spywell Inn in one of their fab skypods. The Sunday roast was absolutely delicious with a really impressive range of veg and accompaniments. Our children had chicken goujons, which they said were the best they’d ever tasted - homemade with delicious batter. We had sticky toffee pudding and chocolate brownie for desert (again, homemade and absolutely delicious) washed down with local ales. Cannot recommend highly enough!

Lovely pub off the beaten track. Few years since I've been, but still the same Food was good, and the cider cold I'll be going back soon

We spent a week in the village so this was our "local" for the holiday. The walk there and back meant more leeway for food and drink! It's a small and friendly place with good ales (according to my beer-loving o/h) and good food: very good food. We had an excellent Sunday roast and also dinner one night with a menu (in terms of choice, taste and presentation) comparable to any fancypants "gastro" pub we've been to. Mark and Laura were very friendly and it was nice to be able to sit and chat. There's an attractive garden with "pods" to eat in if you can't choose between IN and OUT - and I'd imagine during a week that had less rain and more sun, we would have enjoyed soaking up the views with a gin or two. Oh, and they do a fiendish quiz every month, too.

Fantastic country pub, great food, well kept ale, beautiful garden and fantastic service. Definitely worth the short detour off the A35.

Piddle Bitter from the barrel was excellent.I had home made cottage pie & veg for lunch which had obviously used a decent bit of meat.Wonderful view from the garden where there was a blues band quietly playing.Update March 2022: I had liver and bacon which was not only delicious and cooked perfectly but also quite large and very reasonably priced.Exmoor Gold is an excellent pint.As above, stunning views from the garden. They have 6 pods in the garden which would be good if the weather was a bit chilly. It appears that they can be booked.

We had a fabulous Sunday lunch here celebrating a birthday. Service was great and the staff were very friendly. There were 9 of us and our food came out together which was lovely. Despite our number we had loads of room. Looking forward to going back and sampling the midweek menu.

Visited for dinner on Friday evening to meet a friend halfway. Lovely setting with great views and the exterior of the pub looked inviting and festive still with Christmas lights up. Cute small bar to the left that was toasty warm with a real fire. Landlady was welcoming and although dealing with a large drinks order for the other side of the pub, she invited us to take a seat in the dining room and she would get us menus so we felt welcomed and valued. The menu wasn't extensive, but had some great choices and we chose liver and bacon with mash and veg and steak, mushroom and ale pie with mash and veg and two pints of Guinness. Drinks were delivered quickly and we were informed that our meals would be done as soon as the large table further down the dining side of the pub had been served and these arrived quickly. Food was home prepared and cooked. Lovely selection of fresh veg, nothing frozen or microwaved in sight! and portion sizes were more than adequate. The liver and bacon was delicious and my friend informed me the pastry and pie filling was the best she had had in a long time. We stayed to chat after finishing our meal but never felt rushed out. The landlord and landlady were available to chat just before we left and informed us that they were freehold and stocked several small local brewery beers. Overall, we enjoyed our visit to the Spyway Inn and would definitely recommend it and will plan to pop back in the near future.

Great pub. Visited enough times to say that it is consistently very good. Excellent friendly service with a very good range of foods and drinks. I highly recommend a Sunday stroll that ends in a roast dinner at The Spyway Inn.
