The Black Dog Inn in West Dorset

This has to be the best hotel in the land. The meals are first class. the staff are all charming and polite and so helpful. I highly recommend a visit to The Black Dog

Popped in for lunch and was not disappointed. I had the scallops, duck and creme brulee and it was the best meal I have had in a long time. The staff were absolutely lovely, polite and friendly. The pub itself was clean, fresh and airy. A real gem and I look forward to returning.

We just spent 2 nights at The Black Dog to attend a local wedding and we couldn't have chosen a better place. The rooms are excellent, the breakfast exceptional and the cherry on the top is the fantastic staff. We had great fun and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it as a top place to stay in the area.

Popped in for an afternoon drink, very pleasant, staff courteous and friendly. Had a meal here also, delicious food and great service.

Lovely room, nice restaurant and friendly obliging staff, only criticism is you can't check in between 3 & 5:30pm other than that everything was tip top

We turned up today without booking after being rudely turned away from another pub. The barman Jack couldn't have been friendlier, he was super accomodating and made us feel very welcome. Great play area for the kids. Food was absolutely delicious, Jack recommended the duck and it was superb. Clean plates all round.

We stopped here on the off chance as we were hungry on the way home from fossil hunting, so glad we did the main course and dessert we got were absolutely amazing, you could tell everything was home made and so much thought had gone into it, the portions were a good size as well, we will definitely be back when we come to the area, A* omg the brownie and sticky toffee pud were the best 👌

Great for dogs, children and families with a park in the beer garden. Open style restaurants nicely designed. Radiates English country pub. Friendly staff and never a disappointment. No food from 2pm to 6pm. Great for afternoon pint though watching your kids play in the park.

Five of us sat down to a Christmas lunch, pre ordered, two needing gluten and dairy free.We were served what we thought was one of the best Christmas meals we have had.Nothing was too much trouble and those with the dietary problems were very happy. Thank you to all at the Black Dog.
