The Brewers Arms Pub in West Dorset

After visiting the castle we decided on the off-chance to see about getting Sunday lunch in a dog friendly pub. This came up and we went to see. The staff were really friendly and accommodating, giving us a table for an hour and its clearly popular. We each had a roast, one of each of the three meats on offer. Really good large portions, super friendly staff and great service. Everything you want.

Great service and friendly staff in a very nice venue. A traditional village pub serving a good selection of food at a reasonable price. Definitely worth a return visit.

Interesting decor...loved all the boards displaying amusing sayings. Lunch menu was interesting and my choice was delicious(vegetarian lasagne).

Good solid menu delivered with a generous serving ethos. Really lovely atmosphere and welcoming vibe courtesy of superb staff.

Everything you would want from a village pub. Cosy area with open fire and a great roast on offer. The service was very friendly and efficient. Dogs allowed in the bar where you can eat from same menu. Restaurant tucked round the corner which is small but cosy. Nice garden for the summer months.

First time visiting the Brewers Arms, but hope to be back again soon. Friendly efficient welcoming pub.

Great meal, friendly atmosphere. Staff all friendly and helpful. Husband had the best ever chocolate brownies!

Lovely country pub; warm welcome, great service and delicious food - perfect

Lovely, witty decor and the staff were sweet. I had a problem in the car park as it was full when I arrived so I had to find alternative parking on the street. They had no disabled bays that I could see. Sods law of course that, as I was limping back, 12 people came out and drove off...Food was OK but missed the mark for some of us.We all chose a roast dinner (it being a Sunday); two small and one normal... they serve huge portions!The beef and chicken came in chunks and the pork was sliced. One friend (who had the beef) said hers was lovely but my pork and chicken were both dry, over cooked and quite tough to eat (as was my other friends' chicken). The vegetable selection was good, their Yorkshire Pudding was ok but I have to admit their cracking was awesome! There was an issue with the cauliflower cheese however. Initially, when my friend found black area's on hers, she thought it had gone off. We asked about it and were told the chef thought it tasted better roasted rather than boiled and the black was burnt bits. They provided a not so burned portion but none of us on the table enjoyed it. My portion was also burned and yet was still undercooked. Such a shame as they had actually used a decent cheese for the sauce.Dessert was gorgeous (I had a biscoff cheescake) so at least it ended on a good note for me.I will go back but my friends were certainly underwhelmed. Such a shame.A bit of a hit and miss - company fabulous, food not so.
