I rate this at 3.5 stars actually. We were a party of 4, and upon arrival there were no tables free. But the member of staff managed to get a couple off a table for 6 in order to accommodate us. Now, service was very good. Our food arrived promptly. I was a bit disappointed with my meal though; the chicken was swimming in the bacon and brie sauce - it needed to be a lot thicker. Flavour was OK.A busy pub (it was a Saturday night), lovely atmosphere and a gorgeous old pub dog.

Eaten here a couple of times. Food has been spot on both times. Salad is fresh and portions are very healthy. The ploughman's is generous with cheese and pate was superb. Service by all staff was friendly and professional. Highly recommend a visit. Worth every penny!

I have never met such rude staff with a bad terrible attitude towards customers. We had been out all day and thought we would stop by in west bay for a bite to eat with our 4 children. We went into The George and disappointingly we were told the kitchen was closed. I went on to buy a round of drinks and went out to give them to my wife and kids in the garden in the meantime as we couldn’t eat in the pub my wife bought the kids some chips as they were really hungry. It was just the kids, my wife and I were just going to enjoy some drinks in the evening sun. Well what happened next I have never experienced in a pub and I’m 52, so been in many pubs and hospitality establishments. We were abruptly told to finish our drinks and leave as kids could not eat in the garden (the kids were starving) and the kitchen was closed. The guy was someone I would never in a million years have working for me. There were other customers in the garden who even commented and were in disbelief on what they had just seen. We were told the kids couldn’t even sit on the wall close to the pub (surely not even the pubs land). One couple got up and left in disgust. Our kids were in tears at how badly we had all been treated.

Just returned after a 2 night stay and found the George a very comfortable place to stay. The room was very clean and spacious and the food was excellent, especially the full English breakfast! All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall I would certainly recommend this place and hope to visit again soon.

Food is amazing but staff have no customer service skills at all , we stayed at west bay abs visited this pub on 2 occasions for food and drinks. Both times a table of 7 was asked for , in the 1st day we were constantly being watched and monitored, because we’re not locals , despite spending over £300 ,On the 2nd trip there we were given the option for 6 to sit together and 1 alone , and had 3 minutes to check the menu and order food , as the kitchen was closing early so they could send the staff home early to allow for a night shift to be for filled. Feeling very rushed and not having much choice we took the option to eat. After placing the order we could hear the chef saying “you can’t be serious” rather angry. We were then rushed and watched again to get the food out and table cleared ,The 4 children wanted pudding but with the kitchen closed went outside to grab an ice cream , when they returned we were asked to leave because they couldn’t have food on the premises despite spending another £200 in there and not being able to order pudding because they had closed there kitchen early ,Overall. Very unhappy with the level of customer service. If you don’t like holiday makers coming in don’t work in the hospitality sector ,

Helpful staff. We just had a drink sitting outside in the sun and the drinks were brought through for us. Good as my husband is disabled and I could have spilled his beer if I had carried both drinks !

Called in here for lunch after a nice walk around the harbour area. Good view from here looking out across the harbour, plenty of tables outside to enjoy the view over a drink and a meal . We decided to eat Inside, there is a couple of bars with dining areas. Staff are friendly and helpfull. Our food arrived in about 20 minutes , good size portions and was all freshly cooked. We all enjoyed our meals and will call in again when visiting Westbay.
