Great pub. Range of beers and wine and above average food, akin to a mid market restaurant. Beer garden is beautiful and has a small stream running through it which the kids adored.

Splendid place but quite expensive.Really nice, traditional pub with a welcoming atmosphere and pleasant staff. We stopped in for lunch during a walk around the area. Perfect rest bite location, plenty of seating both inside and out.The menu was small (a good thing in my opinion) but had a very appetising selection. We opted for sharing platters and were delighted with the meal. Presented really well and very tasty. Great drinks selection which pleasingly including a bespoke menu of premium gins and rums, which was perfect for us.Only tiny niggle is we felt a little forgotten by the staff. We were the only customers sat inside, due to the weather being so nice and it was supposed to be table service indoors. However, we had to get the attention we needed throughout the meal by going to the bar. I'd say just drop the table service on quiet days inside! Will definitely visit again if we're nearby.

Amazing pub in the heart of the village. Large tiered deck outside with garden. The Sunday lunch was perfectly cooked, good quantity of meat and served with a lovely selection of vegetables. The vegan option was given huge thumbs up too. The staff were friendly and service very good. Good choice of beers so all round a great place to visit.

On our recent visit to Portesham we used the pub 3 times.Visit one: the roast was delicious, would definitely recommend it if you are visiting on a Sunday. The rhubarb crumble was nice but felt it was a little on the small side, however after the roast it was enough but might not be if you have a smaller dinnerVisit two: A lunchtime visit, I had the burger which appeared to be homemade, it had a good flavour & came with chips so a decent meal for the afternoon.I had a scoop raspberry & a scoop of lemon sorbet for pudding, both were fruity & refreshingVisit three: This was a little disappointing, we had all picked the steak for dinner to be told it wasn't available, we weren't told on arrival so we were all a bit gutted to be told this on ordering, as the menu was limited we all pretty much had what we ate on the lunch visit earlier in the week. All in all though a decent dog friendly pub which has a good selection of drinks & a huge garden for those sunny afternoons/evenings

Very good food and choice of beer. New decking since previous visit making outdoor seating even better than before. Large garden and dog friendly. Another pub that must be popular with locals.

On holiday here and been wanting to go here a few times in passing and now glad I did, had the Sunday roast and it didn't disappoint! Beautiful food meat well cook to, booked while we was still there for a few days after to try the evening menu, lovely pub/restaurant

We visited this excellent pub when near Abbotsbury, and it had a great upscale casual vibe with indoor and outdoor seating, and tasty food. The kitchen for dinner opens at 6, but opportunity for drinks beforehand. The mains include two vegetarian options, and the halloumi burger was great.Service was good even with being extremely busy. The toilets were slightly confusingly named Gulls and Buoys for Girls and Boys, but guessed correctly. (Thank goodness hadn't had too much to drink!)Parking is on the neighborhood streets. There weren't tons of spots, but we had no issues.

2 pints of lager shandy, TEN QUID!!!!!Nice garden, but quite a bit of traffic noise.I'd put up with that, but not the ludicrous price of drinks. It's popular, but not with me!!By all means give it a try, but once bitten, twice shy. 22nd April 22From your response, you also have impeccable taste!! Over 4 pounds for a pint of lemonade!! Must be exquisite!!

The food was great and reasonably priced. The drinks were excellent too, including the local cider.Although we'd booked a table it seemed that it hadn't been written down so we were seated in the bar area next to some friendly locals, it was fine but a little noisy and we seemed a bit 'forgotten' there so initially service was quite slow. Once the waiter had us in his sights he was great and really attentive. The garden looked lovely, bit too chilly for us that evening but would definitely visit again and sit outside.

An awesome pub experience! Stayed at the campsite down the road and we happened to walk in during happy hour which seemed to go on all night! Lovely locals inside and welcoming bar staff too. Had a lovely Sunday roast which was presented beautifully, only remembered to take a photo after I tucked in! Had a great selection of ales and beers, had wines too if that's your thing. Drinks were very affordable compared to a lot of pubs I have been to so don't let other reviews out you off! Will definitely be back again when in the area.Special mention to the chap in white boats shoes behind the bar and very smiley ginger waitress
