The Mitre Inn in West Dorset

We loved the location because of it being off the beaten track. No sirens no traffic no planes. Food was great, freshly cooked and piping hot. Our hosts were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. We. May well book the shepherd's hut for our next stay

A popular local rural pub. This visit for us was a midday refreshment break while on a June hike. Friendly welcome and the couple pints of rhubarb cider was enjoyed greatly while sat in the higher part of the beer garden.

Lovely little pub, nice place to stay away from the hustle and bustle, with great beer and food. Room was modern and very clean. They had their beer festival on when we stayed, which was great, with 10 or so ales to try. Full English breakfast available each day, and a good range of meals for dinner each night too.Friendly attentive service, nothing was too much trouble for Allen & Cheryl. Would go again.

Great pub with excellent food and drink. All staff are very friendly and welcoming.......if only we found it earlier whilst on holiday !!

A lovely pub, with very nice rooms. Pity we only had one night. Cheryl and Allan were great friendly hosts. Lovely home cooking and perfect beer.

We arrived earlier than was expected but Allan was there straightaway to book us in. He showed us up to our room and then took us down to the bar to get a well earned couple of drinks 😊 That evening we both had a lovely 3 course meal, sitting next to the wood fire and chatting to the other people in the bar. After a very quite and peaceful nights rest, Cheryl cooked us a lovely full English breakfast in the morning. We can’t recommend this place enough and would most definitely love to stay here when we return to Dorset. P.S. Finlay and Freya were both gorgeous, well behaved Labradors ❤️

Fantastic traditional pub, really friendly people and the room was spacious with a great bathroom, took me by surprise, especially at the price. Really enjoy the breakfast Cheryl rustled up for me, felt very homely and would highly recommend. Thank you for being such great hosts

Quintessential village pub in a totally peaceful location. Accommodation is excellent as is the food and the beer. Very welcoming hosts and had a really enjoyable evening with Cheryl, Alan and their friends. Regrettably was only able to stay one night but hope to return soon.

Wonderful hosts in a lovely little village location. Accommodation was spotless with everything that you would need. Plenty of parking and breakfast was amazing. This place is a hidden treasure. Can't wait to stay again 🙂

A proper village pub with nice food. Friendly, easy-going service. Their signature ham egg and chips dish is lovely. Good value.
