We took a short weekend break for my parents wedding anniversary and booked all three rooms at Cross Lanes. On arrival Ellen and Billy and just the most welcoming hosts and simply cannot do enough for their guests. Even to the point of supplying us dog beds for the two spaniels we had with us.The food is fantastic from the home cooked breakfasts to the evening cheese boards and snacks. Local craft beers and locally sourced coffees are just some of the great beverages but the cocktails are also fantastic. The rooms are spacious and very welcoming with great en suites and incredibly comfortable beds.If you would like a great location for a weekend or mid week break we cannot recommend it enough. We will certainly go back.

We have just returned from a truly wonderful stay at Cross Lane House. From being warmly welcomed with a cup of tea in front of the fire, to a delicious supper, the two nights were perfect. Ellen and Billy have made this small hotel into such a lovely and comfortable place to stay - so many little touches make it very special. We also loved the breakfasts which set us up for long walks in the stunning surroundings of Exmoor.Thank you so much, Ellen and Billy - your attention to detail is faultless and we cannot wait to return.

Wonderful little country house hotel, hosted beautifully by Billy and Ellen. Fabulous room (dog friendly), exceptionally decorated with everything you could need for your stay. The hosts are charming, the food excellent and in such a great location.

We stayed for 2 nights in February and had an amazing time. The room was great and we enjoyed relaxing in their bar in the evening. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't great but it just gave us a good excuse to stay at the hotel and enjoy the comfortable space, drinks and warm fire! Ellen and Billy went above and beyond to make sure we were happy during our stay and we loved the hearty breakfast in the morning. They offered advice for where to walk and visit and were always on hand to help with anything. We loved our visit and look forward to a visit in the future!

It was fabulous! We were recommend by Bossington Hall for a birthday dinner, and were both so impressed by this lovely venue. The house itself oozes charm, and has a great ambiance. The food, cocktails, wine and service were all great. A fantastic experience. We wish we were local! Great work guys, keep it up!

We enjoyed a lovely short stay at Cross Lane House. Everything is beautifully done, Ellen and Billy made us very welcome. An absolute bonus to be able to do some of our favourite walks from the hotel without having to use the car. We wish Ellen and Billy every success in the future. Edward and Patricia

If you are looking for a fantastic location to stay on Exmoor with excellent food, friendly service with stunning surroundings, then Cross Lanes is the place to choose without a doubt! The attention to detail regarding the food and overall service is second to none, whilst set in a beautiful location. The Exmoor coast, ancient woodland and moorland are all within walking/hiking distance or a short drive away. Can’t speak highly enough and will be returning soon!

A truly beautiful place, run by beautiful people in a beautiful part of England. We had the most amazing stay at Cross Lane House Hotel this week. From the moment you arrive you feel relaxed and at home and that’s thanks to its owners Billy and Ellen who are so warm and welcoming. It was such a pleasure getting to know them, hearing their story and the history of the Grade 2 cottage. The attention to detail in the room, the garden, the flowers, the restaurant, everything is so deserving of its 4* rating. The evening food was absolutely delicious made with produce from their kitchen garden and products sourced locally and garnished beautifully with pea shoots and flowers. You have a wonderful breakfast choice to choose from with everyone being catered for and my coeliac, dairy free and meat free choices were dealt with with no problem at all with full understanding about cross contamination. I felt very relaxed eating here and haven’t had any dietary issues.I would definitely recommend staying here or popping along for an evening meal if you are in the area or check out one of their events that they also host.A truly beautiful place, run by beautiful people in a beautiful part of England.

We stayed at Cross Lane for three nights and didn't want to leave. Ellen and Billy have done a wonderful job and created such a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere for their guests. The little personal touches made throughout the stay just shows the attention to detail and effort they both put in to make your time there as lovely as possible. The breakfasts and evening meals were delicious with fresh ingredients from the kitchen garden. The location served as a perfect base to go exploring from and there was always a great cocktail from the bar waiting to be had on your return. We will be going back for sure!

Cross Lane House is a gem. It’s such a unique place to stay, and teamed with Billy and Ellen’s charming hospitality, our stay was very special. With the bonus of beautiful weather we were able to dine in the ancient cobbled courtyard…..such a treat. Since our last visit a few years ago, Billy and Ellen have made some wonderful improvements, particularly to the outside areas. We will be returning soon , accompanied by the other Billy ( our Cairn Terrier ) who gives 5 woofs🐾Maureen and Mike
