Exmoor Forest Inn in West Somerset

Four of us went to The Forest Inn for the night to celebrate my 60th birthday and the staff were magnificent!! They were very friendly and extremely helpful, nothing was too much trouble.The food was delicious as was the Exmoor Gold. A brilliant place for a celebration or just for a great night out.We hope to return in the not too distant future.

We had a very comfortable stay here.Room was a lovely size and we loved the decoration and new bathroom (being past guests)Our dog was well catered for too (bed,towel,bowl and treats in room for him )Breakfast was a very good quality . Can't wait to return.

We had an early dinner after walking to cow castle which hit the spot. A well chosen menu offering fresh seasonal local produce, well cooked. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable of the menu, they gave really good service. The kind of pub you want to come back to again and again.

First Class. Book now in order to avoid disappointment. Delicious food, wonderful staff and a truly welcoming and warm atmosphere. Lit fires, snoozing dogs and a very well stocked bar. I had the slow cooked duck which was just on the generous side and utterly brilliant. This was followed by the milk ice cream which polished the evening off nicely. This pub is under new management, its a family effort. They're going out of their way to make a success of this hidden gem and succeeding with ease.

Came across this pub on a drive through Simonsbath on Boxing Day. Friendly staff, excellent menu with local produce, food top notch and service quick. Real country feel, wish we had taken the dogs, we will definitely return.

Fantastic weekend break. Friendly & helpful staff, outstanding food and probably the best Sirloin steak that I have ever had. Beautiful relaxing location with great walks nearby. Will definitely be back!

I had the pumpkin soup followed by the pork roast. Both were excellent. Our table of 7 were delighted with the meal and the bill at the end was very reasonable.

Friendly hotel, with bar and restaurant. Food and service were first rate. Room nice - bathroom a little basic and in need of a couple of minor repairs, but nothing major. Overall very impressed.

Was good that the Royal Oak could accommodate us for a meal over the BH weekend at relatively short notice. One of our party enjoyed their burger but the remainder of our party did not. Poor standard of food preparation and exceptionally slow service. No eye contact or conversation from waiting staff. Definitely short staffed. Shame about this meal as we had high expectations looking at the reviews.

Stayed in the cottage next door for 2 nights and was lovely...Place was clean and private and had all necessary facilities...On the second night we tried a some starters and dessert (we had already eaten earlier so wasn’t too hungry) and it was delicious... a little hidden gem! We was gutted we wasn’t hungry enough to try the mains as they sounded fantastic...Menu included nasturtium and kale which we also saw growing outside so must grow there own to provide the restaurant which is a great plus for us...Had breakfast the next morning and was delicious again..Thanks for a lovely stay,Staff fantastic...Will definitely return
